Danny April 14, 2015 for Model Number GE JGP975SEK2SS JGP975sek2ss keeps clicking even after changing wire harness. It does stop when I turn the back left burner on but that burner does not light up.
1 Answer Hello Danny. If the switches are new, and the wiring is good, you will need to order and replace the spark module WB13X32509 on the unit. Read More...
Dana February 27, 2015 for Model Number GEJGP975SEK2SS I have changed the Harness Switch and the Spark Module on my GE JGP975SEK2SS but it still keeps clicking.
1 Answer Dana, The most common reason for the unit to continue to click with the spark module and switch harness being replaced would be that there is a short to ground that is causing the issue. Read More...
Kim February 11, 2015 for Model Number JGP975SEK2SS I changed the harness switch but when I plug it in, two of the burners start sparking.
1 Answer Kim, With this issue you will want to check the continuity of the switches just to make sure that they do not have continuity in the off position. If they do then the switches are bad. If they do not then the spark module would be the issue. Read More...
Mike March 16, 2014 for Model Number JGp975BEK2BB When we try to turn on the stove the breaker trips immediately after turning the knob. If I change the spark module WB13T10047 would that fix the problem? It acts like there is a direct short and that seems like the first place to start I just do not want to keep throwing parts at it.
1 Answer Hello Mike, Disconnect the power to the cooktop in the junction box and turn the breaker back on. If it still trips, the problem is in the wiring/junction box and not in the unit. If it doesn't trip, use your ohm meter at the power cord and see if there is continuity from the center terminal to either side. Using ground as a reference, you can disconnect everything inside the unit one thing at a time, (reconnecting the tings that don't show a short as you go, until you find the component at fault. The issue can be any component inside the unit or the wiring inside the unit. The meter will tell on the problem. Read More...
Dave January 28, 2014 for Model Number JGP963SEJ1SS My problem with the cooktop is that the front two have been intermittent but most often to not light. The three back gas burners ignite and light instantly. I have replaced the spark igniters, burner wire harness and burner wires. Still the problem persists. I am wondering if it could be the Spark Module. Note that when I use a screwdriver to check if there is current to the igniters for the faulty burners I do get a spark. It seems like the spark is not strong enough to connect with the metal on top of the burner. Any suggestions?
1 Answer Dave, With having replaced the igniters, burner wire and harness, then the issue would be in the spark module having a weak spark for the 2 front burners. Read More...
Harold November 20, 2013 for Model Number JGP-975 s/n 205c-2981-Pod-112 I have a JGP-975 Gas cooktop, built in. Where is the spark module located on the cooktop? You demo shows only for stoves not cooktops. The unit has been sealed to prevent food from going under the cover plate.
1 Answer Hello Harold. SPARK MODULE ACCESS Access to the spark module varies depending upon the model number of the product. Please check the name and number plate to identify the model number prior to any disassembly. • Make sure that power is disconnected before servicing. • Remove all control knobs. • Remove all burner caps. For all cooktops with glass maintop: • Remove the screws securing the burner bases. Use a number 15 torx bit for this removal. • Lift the burner bases up from the glass maintop and remove the spark ignition wire from each burner electrode. • Lift the cooktop from the burner box SPARK MODULE ACCESS (cont.) For cooktops with 15,000 BTU right front burner: • Remove right rear, left front and left rear burner bases by lifting from maintop. • Pull burner electrode up from maintop and remove spark ignition wire. • Remove three screws (from each burner) that hold the maintop to the burner spider. A number 15 torx bit is required. • Remove burner head from right front burner by pulling straight up from burner base. (Note: this is a snug fit, so pull straight up). • Remove two screws that secure the burner base to the burner inlet. • Remove the burner base from the maintop. The maintop may now be removed, exposing the spark module. For cooktops with 12,000 or 9,500 BTU right front burner: • Remove the burner bases by lifting from maintop. • Pull burner electrode up from maintop and remove spark ignition wire. • Remove three screws (from each burner) that hold the maintop to the burner spider. A number 15 torx bit is required. • Remove the maintop, exposing the spark module. Read More...
Larry L October 07, 2013 for Model Number 911.33213 This is a Kenmore 36" gas cooktop. When any of the 5 knobs are turned to the LITE position the igniters start but there is not any gas going to the burners until the knob is turned to the HIGH position which cuts off the ignitors.
1 Answer Hello Larry. If this is with all 5 knobs, you need to check the gas pressure coming to the unit. Read More...
David May 02, 2013 for Model Number JGP970SEK2SS Following a spillage (boil-over) a rumbling sound accompanied with continuous clicks (same as igniter) started and continued until power was removed. When cool the top was cleaned. When power was restored the sounds and clicks resumed. Any suggestions?
1 Answer Hello David. Make sure all parts are dry and if so, either the spark switch or the spark module will need to be replaced on the unit. If you test the switches in the off position, they should read open for continuity. If they are closed, they are bad. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Alex April 18, 2013 for Model Number ZGU36KBK1BB I am looking to replace the Spark Module (WB13T10047) as well as the wires (6 pieces) that connect it to the ignitors. But I can't find the part number for those wires. Does this spark module come with the wires?
1 Answer Alex, The burner wire harness is part number WB18T10252 and the spark module is part number WB13X32509. Read More...
Ag December 08, 2012 for Model Number GE Profile JGP975 SEK 2SS A kitchen spill incident resulted in arcing and damage to control knobs. I replaced the switch harness and the spark module. Now I have the spark. However, it always sparks on the right front burner regardless of which knob I turn. Some times, the sparks happen on the right and left front burners. I have checked the wiring and all parts are new. How do I get the sparks to happen to the correct burner? Thank you. AG
1 Answer AG, All the igniters should spark, whenever any switch is turned to the "lite" position " IGNITION SYSTEM: The Ignition System consists of 4 spark switches (1 on each valve), 4 spark electrodes (1 on each burner) and a spark module. The burner control knob must be turned to the LITE position to light the burner and out of the LITE position to stop the sparking after the burner has ignited. All 4 electrodes will spark when any burner control knob is in the LITE position." You'll need to check and make sure the power cord is plugged into a polarized, grounded, 120 VAC outlet. Then, check and make sure the igniter wires, between the spark module and the burner ingniters are not damaged or shorted, and the insulation is not cracked or chafed. Read More...
