Questions & Answers

For Ge Cooktop Infinite Switch (Part Number: OEM18854031)

1 Answer

Richard, Thanks for the question!!! The compatibility tool looks for an exact model number written in a specific way. GE prints the model numbers on the unit with extra numbers in it. If you use your model number but remove the 0 between the W and A, like this JP350WA2WW. It shows this switch is for your model.

Jack, the halogen switch WB23K5053 would be used with the model number provided. Unfortunately, it has been discontinued by the manufacturer and is no longer available.

David for Model Number JP960B0A2BB

My GE Profile Performance cooktop has Model # JP960B0A2BB on its label. It appears that your website only has Model # JP960BA2BB (https://www.appliancepartspros.com/cooktop-parts-for-ge-jp960ba2bb.html). Are they the same model? The left front burner (a part of the dual element) only works when the switch is at HI and somewhere between 9 and 8. The bridge and the back burner are OK. It appears that the switch for the left front burner needs to be replaced. Should I order Switch Infinite Control WB24X29364 / AP6284674 (https://www.appliancepartspros.com/ge-switch-infinite-control-wb24x29364-ap6284674.html)? Thank you very much!

Bob, You would do a direct swap of the wires from one to the other except the H2 will go to the HC terminal.

Gary for Model Number jp3508ov1bb

This is the only model number I can find on my GE Profile cooktop, and it doesn't match any of the numbers anybody (including GE) recognizes. I need the infinite control for the right front, largest, dual wattage element. The wattages controlled are 1000 or 1500, depending on the one selected with the little selector knob. It has 5 male spades on the bottom. It is rated at 10 amps 240volts. It has the following numbers on the side: INF 240 TP-1054 and 229C4188P001 and 9613CM. The case is square and black, not as tall as it is wide. The top is stamped steel. It has holes on two opposite sides, one giving access to some small set screw. Is there a replacement for this control? It was replaced once before with a control with the following numbers on the side: CTL011 and HL 812007 and 1431416 and WB23M9/WB23K5009. This control never did work right, but now has gone completely bonkers. Thanks

Hello Timothy, the manufacturer of your model does not supply instruction sheets for infinite switch replacement. Also no wiring schematics available for the same reason. In general, the new switch will wire the same way the original one was, L1 (black) 120v ,,L2 (red)120v,,, P (for the "on" indicator light ), H1 to one side of the circuit to the element and H2 (or HC) to the other side of the element.

Bob, the wires would be transferred as follows: P1 will transfer to L1, P2 will transfer to L2, P will transfer to P, H1 will transfer to H1, and H2 will transfer to HC.

Henry for Model Number GEJCP930TC1WW

Front right dual burner infinite switch on GE Profile smooth cooktop is not working--Info shows replacement switch is GE-WB24X29364. Problem is that the original switch wire terminals are labelled: Pilot, P1, P2, 2, 4. Terminals on new switch are labelled: P, H1, HC, L1, L2. I presume that Pilot wire goes to P on new switch, however, I do not know where the other four wires from the defective infinite switch should be attached to on the new switch. Please help me with which wire goes to which terminal on new switch! Thank you.

1 Answer

Henry, the terminal P1 is changed to L1, P2 is changed to L2, Pilot is changed to P, 2 is changed to H1, and 4 is changed to HC.
