Helene, This issue sounds likely that it would be a faulty dispenser control board problem.

Alex for Model Number GSS25QSWA SS

Follow up from my question the other day. Ice dispenser works fine, but water doesn’t come out. I checked the lines under the fridge and when disconnected, no water comes out when I push the water lever. I tested the dispenser switch and it works correctly, I also tested the inlet valve and am getting 120V on the water intake solenoid when the lever is pressed, and no voltage when not pressed, so I am to believe that is working fine as well. All the lights work on the dashboard, no flickering anything. I’ve switched filters with no issue, and when I press the little release on the filter mechanism water does shoot out. What potentially could be wrong here and what ways can I test the issue(s) to diagnose properly?

Alex, if you place the water valve over a cup or bowl with the water dispenser solenoid water line disconnected, have the lever pressed and check if water comes out. If water does not come out, then the water valve solenoid [WR57X10032] is bad. If water does come through, then the water filter head [WR17X20860] may be the issue.

Bob, I would take the toe plate off, find the water line that runs up through the bottom of the freezer door. Disconnect the water line at the fitting. Close the door and briefly push in the water lever and see if water comes out of the water line at the bottom. If it does, that means the water line in the door is froze up. You can turn the refrigerator off for a few hours to thaw it out. make sure and use the water out of the door on a daily basis to keep it from freezing up again. If no water comes out, you would need to replace the inlet valve. You can check for 120 volts at the water valve solenoid when the water lever is activated, it will be the solenoid with the bigger water line going out of it.

Joe, For this issue the most likely cause will be the dispenser user interface but check the wiring harness at the bottom of the door for loose or damaged connections.

Mary, You would want to check the dispenser switch for continuity and if it checks ok then check the wiring at the bottom of the door to make sure that there are no loose or damaged wires. If this checks ok then the issue would most likely be with the dispenser control board.

Mary, If the dripping is coming from the tube then you could install a check valve 8201815 at the bottom of the door where the tubing goes into the door which should correct the issue.

John, For this issue you will want to check the wiring at the bottom of the door to make sure that there is not damaged wiring. Take the tape off and have someone push the lever and wiggle each wire to see if it will come on. If it does not then the dispenser control board would likely be the issue.

John, In order to access the dispenser you would need to grab the bottom of the display and pull straight out on it and this will release it.

Coulter for Model Number GSS25LSTASS

When trying to get water out of the door dispenser, it will make a clicking sound for a random amount of time between 10 to 20 seconds before dispensing water. While it is clicking, the LED lights on the control panel will turn on and off. Thinking this was a micro switch problem i pulled that part out and tested it for continuity. It tested fine, but it also seems to work, just not right when you depress the lever to get water. Could this still be a faulty switch or is it something else? Thanks for you help.

1 Answer

Coulter, This issue would not be a dispenser switch that is faulty but would be more likely the dispenser control board that is faulty.

Dave, If the unit has a good filter in it then the most likely cause for this issue would be a faulty water filter manifold [PA5951411].
