1 Answer Hello Louis. You will need to test the thermisters WR55X10025 and see if they are good. Here is a chart to use when testing. Thermistor Temperature Resistance 77°F..................10,000 ohms 36°F..................29,500 ohms 0°F....................86,300 ohms You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Susan June 21, 2011 for Model Number BSS25JSTASS I have a ge side by side refrigerator, the freezer side is not freezing properly and the fresh food side is also not cooling properly. Normally I would have the temperature set to 5 and that was perfect now it is at 9 and nothing improved. HELP!

1 Answer Hello, is the freezer working fine or are both sides not cooling? If you are only experiencing temperature issues on the fresh food side, you will want to make sure you don't have ice build up on the evaporator coils. If you have ice build up, then you are having a defrost issue. The most common issue for your unit will be WR55X10942C. You can test the defrost thermostat with a multi meter MA-DM1, it should read close for continuity. You can verify the heating element WR51X10055 is working as long as you get a resistance reading. I'm not sure how to pry off the grille from the internal wall of the refrigerator without damaging either the grille or the liner. I tried a slotted screwdriver and the slots on the grille started to come apart, so I stopped immediately. What's the trick to doing this without making a mess of it? Please advise. Thanks!

1 Answer Hello Benigno. You will need to check and see if there is a defrost problem with the refrigerator. Look for frost build up on the back freezer wall. If so, you will need to test the heater WR51X10101 and thermostat WR50X10068 and make sure they are good. They should read closed for continuity when cold. If they are good, and there is a defrost problem, you will need to change the main control board WR55X10942C. You can test this with a multi-meter MA-DM1. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter.
