Hi Andy. The main control board needs changed , this part # is WR55X10942C. This controls all settings and commands you ask it to. Keep your condenser coils in back by the compressor clean, and all the fan motors working. Thank you.

Lisa, A couple of things you want to check first : Open the freezer door, can you feel the air movement from the evaporator fan blowing towards you ? The fan could be stuck in a slow or no rotation. Is there ice or frost built up on the back wall of the freezer compartment ? That would indicate a defrost issue, and would also restrict the air flow/movement. In the upper left hand corner of the refrigerator Reach up and see if you can feel some air movement through the damper grille, the damper could be malfunctioning or blocked with ice or frost. Thanks and Good Luck.

Hello Shawn! Yes, there are two thermistors inside your refrigerator. The freezer and refrigerator temp sensor thermistors are the same part number WR55X10025. Thanks!

Hi Dave. Are there any gaps where your door seals are not sealing well? Are your condenser coils clean? When you feel in between the cavities at the fresh food / freezer center divider, is it way too hot? If so this will indicate the condenser fan motor is not working correctly. This is the best I can offer. Please send us the exact model # located by your controls. Thank you.

Hello Robert. It does not sound like it is stuck in defrost mode, but could have a defrost problem. You will need to look and see if there is frost build up on the back of the freezer wall. If so, you will need to test the heater WR51X10038 and the thermostat WR50X10068. They should read closed for continuity when cold. If they are good, you will need to replace the main board assembly WR55X10942C. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps.http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

HI Steve. If your freezer back wall has frost build up on it, then yes changing your parts mentioned is correct. If this does not change the fresh food section about a few days afterwards, the you might consider another avenue. However this sounds normal. Make sure your condenser coils and fan is clean and working properly also. Hope this helps. Thank you.

Susan for Model Number BSS25JSTASS

I have a ge side/side Fridge. Is there a thermistor on the fresh food side? Where can I locate it? I have been able to locate two in the freezer section. I changed the thermostat and the freezer coil does not have the ice build up anymore, but the freezer is still not freezing properly. Neither is the fresh food section cooling like it should. The board tested good. Do I need to change the thremistors and if so, all of them or just those that tests bad? Thanks

Hello Susan . The temperature sensor WR55X10025 for the refrigerator side is located in the top left rear of the cabinet where the damper assembly is. It should read around 10K ohms at room temperature and 29.5K ohms at 36°. If the sensor checks out to be good, you may have a bad HMI assembly WR55X23210. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps.http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Danny for Model Number PSH23SGPA

I have a side-by-side fridge and both the freezer and fridge stopped cooling(freezer is at 50/fridge is at 74). I checked the evaporator coils but there was no ice buildup, opened the back part of fridge and cleaned all the dust, checked to make sure that all lights turn on/off correctly, and made sure doors seal properly. Then I used a multimeter to test the evaporator fan, condenser fan motor, themistors, and the J15 plug and all appear to be ok. The 2 resistors in the mainboard do not appear to be burned. When I plug in the fridge I can feel the compressor vibrate a bit but then it's pretty much quiet. Any suggestions of what else I could check?

1 Answer

Hello Danny. You will need to test the compressor and see if it is good. Also test and see if there is power at the compressor. If there is no power, you could have a bad main board WR49X10152 or a bad inverter board WR55X20817. If there is power coming to the inverter, but not to the compressor, you will need to replace the inverter board. Here is a link to our Repair Forum, this is a free service to our customers.
