Robin September 17, 2012 for Model Number DHDSR46EG6WW Dryer is 2 years old and won't start (totally dead). I have 120/240 AC Voltage on the Terminal Block. I have continuity on the Door Switch (when pressed) and Thermal Fuse. No continuity on the Timer Resistor and no AC Voltage on the 2 black wires coming from Timer Motor. Therefore, should I replace the Timer Resistor and will it fix the problem.
1 Answer Hello Robin. Ohm out the timer resistor WE4M255 and it should read around 4500 ohms. If not, replace the resistor. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Mike April 29, 2012 for Model Number GE Dryer DLLSR34E Will the timer resistor keep the dryer from starting? I checked the door switch and its OK the timer Resistor does not have continuity, so I assumed it's bad. My dryer when you twist the start switch humms (like normal) but will not start.
1 Answer Mike, If the motor hums, when you turn the start switch, you're getting voltage to the motor, but is it the correct voltage (110-120 VAC). You could bypass the resistor for a temporary test(attach the two wires together). You may want to check and make sure, nothing got stuck in the blower fan and the motor shaft has not seized up. After you check and make sure there are no loose connections at the terminal block and you have 220-240 VAC at the terminal block. Good Luck and Thanks Read More...
Clay March 29, 2012 for Model Number dpsr473ew0ww The automatic timer in my dryer has stopped working. The manual timer still works. The timer resistor is sitting at 4450 ohms. What could be the issue?
1 Answer Hello Clay, It sounds more like you have a ducting issue to me. You see, if the unit can't get rid of the moisture, it's blown past the felt drum seals and is recirculated across the clothes. The sensors sense the moisture again and the unit will run forever. When the sensors pick up the moisture, it keeps the timer motor from getting voltage so the timer never advances. You can check it with a Dryer Vent Test Kit W11224254. If you want to check the duct for problems without the kit, disconnect the duct from the unit and turn the unit on, set to an automatic cycle, and let it run for 5 minutes and the timer will advance if no problems with the unit exists. Fixithome January 28, 2012 for Model Number DRSR483ED2WW The automatic functions, "less, more, optimum" on the dryer stopped working. The manual timed functions still work fine. I assumne there is a moisture sensor located somewhere but I can't find it in the exloded parts diagrams. Does anyone have anyideas? Did I just miss it in the parts diagram?
1 Answer Hi Fixithome. If you open the dryer door and look on the inside of the inner lint tray area. On one side there are 2 curved stainless sensor bars approx. 8". You may need to take a schothbrite pad and scuff it up to get any residue build up off of it. See now if this helps. Make sure your entire vent system is clear and the outside vent cap works properly. Then try the dryer w/ wet clothes. The sensor bar wires may have disconnected. If the timer motor is + or - 10% of 4500 ohms value, replace this w/ part # WE4M255 . Thank You. Read More...
Bob December 01, 2011 for Model Number NBXR453EV1AA The dryer runs but at times it doesn't seem to heat properly. Also, the timer stays in one spot while it is running. An example, The timer is set for 40 minutes on the Cotton-Sturdy cycle and it will not count down and doesn't appear to get as hot as it used to. I'm not sure if it's the timer or resistor or both.
1 Answer Hello Bob. It sounds like the venting system is clogged or kinked. You will need to check the vent and clean it out. Be sure and clean the vent pipe and the dryer air duct assembly. If the air flow is not good, the unit will retain moist air causing the clothes not to dry. Try running the unit with the vent unhooked from the back of the dryer and see if the dryer works properly. If the problem continues, the is most likely the resistor WE4M255 not sending power to the timer motor. Hope this helps. Read More...
Steve November 20, 2011 for Model Number dhdsr46ee0ww What will happen if I bypass the timer resistor .?
1 Answer Hi Steve. Resisters are used to drop voltage or resistance in order for the circuit to work safely and correctly as designed. If it is bypassed you will burn wires and / or short out parts. The timer resister is part # WE4M255. They are made cheap enough to replace if needed. Thank You. Read More...
Ken March 28, 2011 for Model Number DHSR333EVOWB Timer doesn't work. Could it be the resister or is it the timer?
1 Answer Hello Ken. You can test the resistor to see if it is ok with a multi-meter MA-DM1. If it is good, replace the timer. Hope this helps. Read More...
