Mike November 24, 2019 for Model Number LDS5040ST We got the FE code. The tub seemed to drain mid cycle. Checked the float assembly and it was full of black crud (we were away in Florida for 6 months?). I cleaned it out and ran a fresh cycle with the same result. Should we change the water inlet valve first or maybe the float assembly? Is there a way to troubleshoot?
1 Answer Mike, the float assembly will need to be checked to ensure that the switches are able to be activated and de-activated. The valve can be tested by marking where the water level is after the unit drains. After 1 hour, if the water level rises any, the valve has failed and would need to be replaced. Read More...
Annand September 06, 2019 for Model Number LDS4821ST Dishwasher indicated error code FE and after researching the problem I replaced the water inlet valve and cleaned the float assembly. Ran the dishwasher and got the same code as soo. As the dishwasher began a rinse cycle. Also noticed water leaking underneath left side. Do I have to replace the float assembly as well?
1 Answer Annand, The FE Error is caused by either a faulty inlet valve or a control that is faulty. Since the Valve has been replaced the issue will most likely be a faulty main control board. Read More...
Phillip March 01, 2019 for Model Number LDS5540ST Hello, My LG Dishwasher is giving me an FE error code about 10-15 minutes into a "Normal" cycle. The problem doesn't happen on a "Quick" Cycle. Shortly after the time the soap compartment opens up (whether or not soap is in the compartment), the dishwasher decides to add more water. The problem is, it hasn't drained the water it filled a few minutes ago. This triggers the over-flow and causes the tub to drain and cycle to abort. The valve has no problem opening and closing, starting flow and stopping flow. At the same point in the cycle (every time) it decides to add more water to the tub -- even though the tub is almost completely filled. So far I have removed the float assembly and cleaned out the water float box. The floats move up and down freely. Problem remains. Also of note, when I had the dishwasher pulled out and ran a "normal" cycle, the problem didn't happen. Leading me to believe maybe the washer is off level(?) Do you have any thoughts of suggestions?
1 Answer Phillip, it may be possible that the drain hose has a partial clog or was slightly pinched and not allowing the unit to drain properly. If it does not drain properly, then there will be an overfill situation and since the normal cycle uses more water than the quick cycle, this will differentiate the over all fill amount. Read More...
Andy September 25, 2018 for Model Number LG I have been experiencing the float assembly overflowing lately. I have been able to check the float sensors and they are working properly. I do notice that once the first float is made the water continues to fill right until the second float is made. Is there a time delay on the first float or should the water stop after the first float is made? I have seen where posts state that if the pump housing leaks by then it will cause the surge of water during the rinse cycle so I am not sure if the pump housing needs to be replaced of the water inlet valve. Thank you
1 Answer Hello Andy, The dishwasher fills on a timed basis, therefore, there is most likely a relay in the control that is stuck in the closed position. This will cause the float switch to have to open the electrical circuit that energizes the water valve. For a more detailed diagnosis and possible part numbers to correct the issue, we will need to ask you to please post a new question including the model number from your units' I.D. tag. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter. Read More...
Mohd September 01, 2018 for Model Number LDF6920ST On my LG LDF6920ST Dishwasher the initial issue was whenever I turn on the main electric supply it would just constantly produce this humming sound. I tried pushing all the buttons (including starting a washing cycle ) and nothing worked as it kept on humming. Next I disconnected the power supply and I had a appliance repair guy show up. I connected the power supply and now it doesn't produce the humming sound but when I turn on a washing cycle it gets in the water but then just stops. I opened the Float assembly and realized it was super dirty. Is that the reason why the dishwasher is not working? Also all throughout this exercise I never see any error code on the display
1 Answer Mohd It's doubtful your float assembly is the reason for this issue. There could possibly be something stopping the impeller from turning and this would be the humming noise you describe. Read More...
John June 03, 2018 for Model Number lg dishwasher lds5540s My LG dishwasher, model lds5540s , is not cleaning well. I've cleaned the filter and the interior components. Also checked the water inlet valve. I noticed however that what appears to be the float on the side of the machine is very dark and dirty. It looks like the interior walls of the float are coated with dark debris. Could this be the source of my problem? Also, i can access the side of my unit easily. The float is easily accessible. Can i simply disconnect the float and pop in a new one? Or do i need to uninstall the entire unit, including the sump line? Thanks
1 Answer John, The float having debris would likely be the issue. You will want to replace the float assembly 4769DD2001A on the unit. Read More...
Jeremy October 28, 2017 for Model Number lds4821ww I have leaking at the float. I watched as the water rise and overflow through the air holes at the top of the float it seemed to happen only between the wash and rinse cycle and at stat up. Do I need a new float or is something else causing my problem. Thanks
1 Answer Jeremy, It sounds like the float may not be moving up and down freely and would want to check this and may just need a new float assembly. Read More...
Terry October 05, 2016 for Model Number LDF6081ST/01 1.Regarding the float assembly, does it need routine maintenance? The dishwasher is working fine. Thanks. 2. II see a fine mesh in the sump. Obviously, large food waste flows out. Is there a grinder within the dishwasher? Thanks.
1 Answer Terry, No the float assembly doesn't need or have any "routine maintenance", as long as the water is hot enough and you use the proper amount of detergent, you'll be fine. Yes there is a "chopper" blade inside the pump assembly, it is sometimes referred to as a " soft food" chopper or maserater, it will grind larger larger sized waste articles and flush them down the drain system. Doug February 17, 2016 for Model Number lds5540st Hi, Dishwasher stopped about 1 hour in cycle. Gave error code FE. Replaced water inlet valve (thank you quick ship and great service) Just an a test cycle and problem repeated. same error code. This time I cycled power immediately and ran another cycle. Motor ran, but would not fill with water. Is the float switch the next step? Do float switches fail intermittently? Thank you
1 Answer Hello Doug. You will need to replace the float assembly 4769DD2001A on the unit. Read More...
Rita November 13, 2015 for Model Number LDS4821ST Dishwasher begins to fill but shuts off. It gives a code. It won't fill completely or continue through the wash cycle.
1 Answer Hello Rita, You can either refer to the units' tech sheet to decipher the fault code or you can list it here and we can look up the code. I'm sorry but there is not enough information provided to determine the issue. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Read More...
