The 14 Cube Ice Maker is an OEM part for LG refrigerators. This ice maker is responsible for automatically producing batches of cube ice on demand to keep extra ice readily available in the freezer.

Causes of a bad ice maker can include failures from usage over time, clogged lines preventing proper water flow, or impaired mechanical components.

Symptoms of a bad ice maker include:

  • Reduced or no ice production at all
  • Water buildup or overflowing due to malfunctioning fill valves
  • Grinding or crunching noises from impaired mechanical parts
  • Error codes or fault messages for ice production issues

This OEM LG replacement is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore refrigerator models.

For Lg Icemaker (14 Cube) (Part Number: OEM17027868)

Jackie Again for Model Number LFX25976SB

I asked the recent question about the ice cubes being made but not being dumped into the bin. When I press the test button it dumps fine and refills with water again. About the same time this started happening, I noticed the bread in my freezer is not frozen on that top drawer of the bottom drawer freezer, but it seems as if most everything else is still frozen. Also if I put ice in a bucket on the top drawer, it stays frozen. Do you think there is more wrong with the fridge/freezer than just the ice maker. I'm wondering if the ice maker works but is just not sensing that it is frozen enough to dump it out yet, due to the slightly warmer freezer.

Jackie, It does not sound like there is nothing else wrong with the unit and just sounds likely that the icemaker is faulty and would need to be replaced. Just make sure also that none of the air ducts are blocked.

Rick, If the icemaker does not refill with water then you will want to check to see if there is voltage getting to the water valve. If there is no voltage then the valve would be faulty and need replaced.

Tommie, Unfortunately there is no diagram or instructions for installing the components back into the ice bin assembly. The manufacturer does not provide any information on this and they do not provide parts other than the complete bin.

Bill, The sensor will be part of the icemaker kit and cannot be gotten separately. The icemaker would be the most likely cause for this issue.

Eric, Try to push the test button to see if the icemaker will cycle. If it does then the issue will be the thermostat on the icemaker which would require a new icemaker. If it does not then this could be a faulty main board not sending power to the heater or to the icemaker module.

Ronald for Model Number Kenmore Elite

My ice maker stopped dumping ice among several other past issues.( replacement of bottom cover of condenser coils for error code regarding a faulty fan and heater design) in freezer. I recently replaced the icemaker AEQ73110206 with (Now AEQ73110203) in my 2yr old fridge. The unit fills makes ice but in the dumping rotation stops shortly after it begins the rotation. When I press the reset button it finishes the cycle and refills again. I come back later to find it's made ice again but it's stopped in the same place in the rotation cycle. I once again have to press the button to complete the cycle. Needless to say very annoying for what's supposed to be an "elite" product. The original ice maker was doing the same thing in which I read suggestions to replace the ice maker. When I replaced it the new one is doing the exact same thing. Any help in resolving this would be appreciated. Ronald

Hello Ronald. If the icemaker is new, then it sounds like the main board on the unit may be bad and will need to be replaced. Thank you.

Ann E for Model Number 79572063315

My Kenmore refrigerator has been leaking water in the ice dispenser housing. When the ice tray empties, water is overflowing at the refill hose. That water runs inside the compartment and causes ice build up. I have to chip it out every day and wipe water out of the gasket at the bottom of the door. I tried replacing the water inlet valve. However, now the thing is actually leaking worse with the new part than it was with the old. What are the chances that replacing the ice maker assembly will actually resolve this issue? If the chances are high, can you give me the part number? I don't see a video on how to replace the ice maker. Is there one out there that I just haven't found?

1 Answer

Ann, This issue sounds more likely that the water valve is not closing and would need to replace the water valve assembly for this issue.
