Greg, With the freezer section not cooling would want to check to make sure that it is not defrost issue in which the evaporator coils in the freezer would be impacted with ice. If there is no ice or frost on the coils then the stepping valve DA97-07070B would be the most likely cause for this issue. The valve would have to be replaced by a service tech if it is faulty.

Hello Michael, On this design, you will most likely need to clear the defrost drain and add a defrost drain clip DA61-14306A. Issues have also been annotated with the styrofoam in the evaporator cover DA97-07190G. If there are any cracks or missing pieces of this styrofoam, a frost will accumulate which causes air circulation issues. This is, of course, if no issues with the defrost circuit exist since there are also defrost issues associated with the main board DA41-00651K. I'm sorry but this part DA41-00651K has been discontinued by the manufacturer and no satisfactory substitutions have been provided. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Matt for Model Number RFG298AARS

My fridge and freezer work intermittently. The display will show the the temp as -6 and 38 however that is not the true temp. I press and hold the top two buttons and receive no error codes. Once I unplug the unit and plug it back in the true temp is given of 40 and 62. I replaced the main pcb and it was working fine for two days, but it just happened again. What else could be causing this problem? When it is working, it works great. However, something is stopping it from giving a true temp reading and kicking on to continue to cool. Any ideas? Thanks!

Matt, It would be recommended to check the thermistors on the unit as this will be the most likely cause for the unit to stop cooling. The thermistors should have a resistance reading of 5K ohms at room temperature of 77 degrees.

Lon for Model Number RFG298AARS/XAA

Fridge and freezer warmed up to 45 degrees and holding. compressor is running and so are the fans. I pushed the two buttons on the front panel to get the codes and it flashed the panel 4 times indicating the compressor locked. pushed the buttons again to reset as the instructions said on back and now it flashes twice saying the inverter board fault. What could be the problem? Lon Fridge is 5 years old. Does this compressor always run just at varying speeds to compensate for heat load? If so could the inverter board be bad not letting the compressor ramp up to get the unit to a lower temp?

1 Answer

Hello Lon. No, it sounds like the sealed system has failed and you will need to have an HVAC tech come out and repair the unit.

Hello Leo, The refrigerator has been applied with the BLDC fan motor for RS2534, R room Fan is AC motor used. The BLDC motor is driven by DC 8-12V. Under the normal condition of COMP ON, it is operated together with F-FAN motor. With operation of the CoolSelect ZoneTM function, the F-Fan motor will not work. If the door is opened and closed once at a high ambient temperature, the BLDC motor would be operated after a minute or longer delay. Therefore, you’ re advised not to take it for an error. When the refrigerator is open, the freezer fan motor will also stop working simultaneously with the fan motor. (for the purpose of performance improvement).

Hi I have a french door Samsung refrigerator. There is no power, no lights no fan , no nothing. When I plug in the power it instantly blows my 2amp fuse on my control board. However a tech said my compressor was pulling too many amps. However when we disconnected the compressor and plugged in the fridge we didn't get any blown fuse but we also didn't get any power! I can only assume if the problem was the compressor and we disconnected it we should still get power to the light, fan, control pad, right? I would like to ask if anyone things its the inverter (power supply) board that should be replaced? Thank you!

1 Answer

Brandon, The fuse blowing as soon as the unit is plugged in would most likely be a faulty control board but with the fuse not blowing it also sounds like the compressor would be bad.
