Rps0470 July 07, 2020 for Model Number RFG237AARS/XAA-0000 Hello First freezer stopped cooling. Fridge was working Ok. The LED on the inverter board was solid. The temp on display showed -19 deg C for the freezer but the actual temp was around 3 deg C similar to fridge. After some days the fridge stopped working as well. The compressor won't start. LED on inverter board flashes(one blink). I bought a new board but still the same issue. Compressor resistance across pin is OK. What should I check next?
1 Answer RPS0470, as the inverter control DA92-00215C has been replaced, it is likely that the compressor has failed. The single flashing LED is going to indicate a starting failure. While the compressor windings can test good for 10O for this model, the motor mechanics can seize up. Read More...
Talent June 19, 2020 for Model Number RB29FWRNDSA Hi I have a Samsung inverter fridge that's not coming on since there was a lightining struck, I opened and checked the inveter pcb the light is flashing red, and nothing comes on
1 Answer Talent, With the inverter, PCB LED flashing then this would most likely be caused by a faulty inverter for the unit and will need to be replaced. Read More...
Nick June 04, 2020 for Model Number RF23HCEDBBC/AA This Samsung fridge was not cooling properly with ice melting in tray and both compartments not keeping solid temp. Now compressor does not start. Compressor pins all test 10.5 ohms so I doubt comp is the issue. The inverter board flashes 8 times which I cannot find on the web what this code means. If plugged in long enough, the compressor will try to start but immediately stalls and will display the 4 blink compressor stuck error. I do not believe compressor is truly bad and suspect startup issues with inverter board. I went ahead and ordered a reconditioned inverter board on amazon and now with this board I don't even get a lit LED. Also there is a display 44 error code (communication to boards I believe). Would like to test pins so could use advice on which ones. AC is going to board and fuses are all good. I am thinking this new board is DOA but want some information on what the inverter board 8 blinks mean to help diagnose before I take another fridge money gamble. Please help and thanks!
1 Answer Nick, as 8 blinks are not a valid error code with the inverter, and there is a communication failure, the inverter DA92-00483C is certainly going to be suspect. At connection CN103 from pin 1 (red probe of meter) to pin 3 (black probe of meter) there should be 2 to 3 VDC. If there is, the main control is good and the issue is with the inverter not communicating properly. In regards to the motor locked error, the compressor MKV190CL2B/ASH windings can test good but it will not necessarily indicate if the motor itself has locked up or not. Once the control communication has been addressed, if the new inverter shows a locked motor error again this will certainly verify the compressor has failed. Read More...
Joe May 26, 2020 for Model Number RFG237AARS/XAA-0000 Fridge and freezer not cooling. First I noticed ice in the ice maker. Then I noticed the freezer seemed too warm. Realized the displayed temps on the front screen weren't accurate. unplugged for 2 minutes. Then the temp display was accurate - showing fridge at 50 degrees and freezer at 30 degrees. Put it into diagnostic mode (where you hold 2 button and it goes into forced operation FF 1, FF2, FF3...). I checked the back LED. Blinking 3 times. I can't really tell what that means. I'm hoping it's the inverter board, because I can get one quick and replace easily. What can I do to narrow this down?
1 Answer Joe, This issue would be caused by either the inverter board and if it does not correct the issue then it will be the compressor that is faulty. Read More...
Jamss May 25, 2020 for Model Number Rf268abrs/xaa0001 my refrigerator and freezer stopped cooling and I have power at the overload but the inverter makes a funny noise and flashing 2 x on the red light on the inverter and compressor not running. Fans and no defrost issue either Please help
1 Answer Hello James, the 2x blink is a fault code and refers to the compressor's inverter board having failed. The inverter board is part DA41-00614F. Read More...
Dan May 24, 2020 for Model Number RFG297AARS Past two month I have noticed the freezer not keeping ice cream hard (very soft). Finally got around to cleaning and checking compressor and fan. Everything seems to be working fine. Temperature is set on freezer -8 and fridge 38. When check with a thermometer the fridge is right on at 38 but the freezer is running at 22. The ice maker is making very little ice also. The display says that the freezer is at -8 but it is not. I have checked for error codes on the display and at the board in the back. Nothing is showing any errors. I have gone into option controls and adjusted the freezer temperature to the offset of -7 and it does make the freezer drop down in temperature but that is the max you can change. Any suggestions on what could be going on?
1 Answer Hello Dan, if the compressor, condenser fan, and evap fans are running but the freezer cannot reach the set temperature and the ref seems to be always running, this may be the early sign of a sealed system problem, likely a low freon level. Read More...
Bob April 28, 2020 for Model Number RS265TDRS/XAA The refrigerator side doesn't cool and leaks every couple of months. It would fix itself after a day or two. I have tried running "rd" mode or unplugging the whole fridge. I have also taken the panel inside the refrigerator side off before and didn't have any ice build-up. I opened the back panel and it smelled hot and plasticky. However, nothing was melted. The red light on both panels were sold red. No blinking. Should I try replacing one of the boards? Main or inverter PCB?
1 Answer Bob, the evaporator fan motor DA31-00146E would need to be inspected for any obstructions and, with the door switches activated, tested for 12VDC. If the fan has between 7 to 12VDC when testing from the red wire (using the red probe of a meter) to the black wire (using the black probe of a meter), it should be spinning. During this testing, it is also recommended that the fan is observed to identify if it might be the source of the odor and replace if necessary. If there is not a 7 to 12VDC supply after 60 seconds with the door switches in the closed position, the main control would be the likely cause. If there is a REV number on the model tag, it would be necessary to identify what board is needed. If there is not a REV number, the main control would be part number DA41-00670C. Read More...
Joy April 19, 2020 for Model Number RF268ACRS/XAA My refrigerator stopped working, not cooling. the LED light on the compressor control board (inverter?) was blinking once. I bought a used one (DA41-00614F) and replaced the light became blinking 4 times. it means the compressor is dead, however, I tested the compressor windings (all three 11.7-11.9). it means it is good. so I put the old/original board back. the light became blinking twice. what should I do now? buy a new inverter board? which model? I did some search some posts said DA41-00614F, and other one said DA92-00111B. Please advise Thanks,
1 Answer Hello Joy, it is likely the compressor has a locked rotor, the compressor's motor windings pass the ohms test but the mechanical parts can not be checked that way. The original inverter board may have been damaged from what is usually described as a tight or hard start compressor that is now seized. The replacement inverter board since it has not been damaged is showing the correct code which is a locked rotor code. The ref can be repaired with a new compressor but that would involve contacting a service technician as that is a sealed system repair. Read More...

Johnny C April 14, 2020 for Model Number RS265TDRS/XAA Hi. Samsung fridge RS265TDRS/XAA, purchased in 2010. Last year, May 2019 had ice build up in refrigerator side at back panel. I unplugged it, took out all food(put food in cooler with ice), let it sit overnight and the following day to defrost. Cleaned up evaporated water and fired it back up. Everything worked fine. Now having the same issue about a year later. Is it possible there is something wrong with the main power control board? Maybe not sending a signal to defrost when it is supposed to? Or is this an ongoing issue I have to deal with? Please help. Thanks, Johnny C
1 Answer Hello Johnny, with the symptoms a year apart, it is difficult to determine where the problem may be. A faulty component would show the symptom quickly, from a couple of days to about a week at most being a no defrost problem. Rather than speculate I am going to email you the ref technical datasheet which will allow you to run the self-test mode as well as check the defrost operation. Read More...
