For Samsung Refrigerator Ice Maker Assembly (Part Number: OEM12516573)

Hello Greg. Make sure the freezer is between 0° and 5°. You need to check and see if there is power going to the water valve when the icemaker cycles. If so, replace the water valve on the unit. If not, or the icemaker does not cycle, you will need to replace the icemaker on the unit. Also, check and make sure the fill tube on the unit is not frozen and clogged. If so, replace the water valve and thaw out the fill tube. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Hello Gary. You need to check the fan motor that blows the cold sir into the compartment. Without the correct temp, the icemaker will not work.

Hello. I have a Samsung model RF25HMEDBSR/AA03 with an ice maker ( at upper left) that will not stop making ice. It was purchased in 2014. The ice maker has no shutoff arm, but instead has a sensor at the back I believe. I have reset the icemaker using the reset button. Unplugged the refrigerator briefly to try and reset it, and made sure what appears to be the sensor is clear of ice. Nothing has worked, and there are no error codes showing. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Steve, This issue will most likely be caused by the icemaker being faulty. There should be a arm that lowers when it is cycling to sense the ice level. If this arm is not sensing the level then it is faulty and the icemaker would need replaced.

Chris, The ice tray not dumping on its own will most likely be caused by a faulty thermistor on the icemaker in which the icemaker will need to be replaced.

Ice dispenser has a very loud noise (grinding)- louder on cubed than crushed. after dispensing water, there a noise from inside just like banging wirings or metals. Crushed or Cubed options both dispense cubed ice. Ice bucket can't be pulled out after doing instructions - lift up from the bottom and pull out in one motion - applied force but still can't be pulled out. Any suggestions to solve these problems. This item is out of Warranty - purchased more than a year ago.

Ellen, It sounds like the issue with the icemaker may be that there is ice behind the bin that is causing it to stick in place. This could be caused by a water valve that is not shutting off or could be that the icemaker is cycling too fast and causing water to get into the bin and freeze the area. This could also cause the crush/cube solenoid to stick in the crushed setting. You may need to defrost the unit in order to get the bin out to see what is going on with it.

Jennifer, The most likely cause for the icemaker to freeze over would be a thermistor on the icemaker that is bad and causing the icemaker to dump too soon. This would require the icemaker to be replaced.

Terry for Model Number KSBP25INSS00

I have a lady friend that has this KitchenAid refrigerator ( I believe its model is approx. 2002+). Problem: Will not quit making ice (once the ice bucket is full, it continues to make more ice which over spills into freezer compartment). Everything else (dispenser, etc.) works as usual. There appears to be a optical sensor that (i believe) appears to work properly. However, I don't see any evidence of a shut off/on metal rod/arm attached to the ice maker, itself. Could this be missing or lost? Possibly the sensor would take its place?? Can't seem to find any info relating to this problem, especially with this unit. Any help would be appreciated....Thanks

Joy, A couple of things to look for/at. How "old" are the cubes, Ice Cubes have a tendency to dehydrate/melt, and stick together if not used for a while, some manufacturers recommend, you empty the ice bin every two or three weeks to keep them from "clumping up". The ice maker in your refrigerator is a twist tray design. You need to check and make sure the ice tray returns to a level position. If the tray isn't level the water will tend to overfill or miss the tray completely and will freeze the cubes together. There is a "test" button on the bottom of the front control mechanism, press and hold the button until the tray starts to maove and you can observe the ice maker cycle and return back to the start position(level).
