Questions & Answers

For Samsung Refrigerator Ice Maker Assembly (Part Number: OEM12516573)

1 Answer

D, The most likely cause for the ice sticking to the tray would be a faulty icemaker, either not turning all the way around or the coating of the icemaker that is put on the plastic that has worn off.

Ed, The sensor will just come from under the icemaker and connect to the bottom front of the ice tray. There should be 2 little knobs that hold a plastic piece that holds the sensor.

Hello John. Make sure the temp is between 0 and 5°. If not, ice production will be slow. If it is good, replace icemaker.

Patty, On the side of the icemaker there is an arm that will drop as the icemaker is ready to cycle. If it makes it to the complete down position then it will allow the icemaker to cycle. If the arm meets resistance and cannot go all the way down it will delay and try later on to try to cycle.

Ken for Model Number RS267LASH

Hi i have a samsung refer RS267LASH and the ice maker is doing something whacky, the ice maker was replaced a few years back ... what is happning now it looks like water is leaking into the bin and freezing everything into a block. and the ice coming out is super thick and not breaking into individual cubes... also lots of shards of ice everywhere, sounds like the water is filling into the lready frozen tray as mentioned in another customers issue, but the auger and bin are busted too, so I need to replace many parts. Please help me with this issue.

Ken, Based on the description, it sounds for sure line you need a new ice bucket part number DA97-05443D. As for the issue with water running over already frozen ice would sound more like an issue with the water valve DA74-40150H not shutting off completely and allowing water to flow in. Since the icemaker appears to cycle properly then this would be the most likely cause of failure.

Charlie W. for Model Number rs2545sh

I just ordered new ice maker off amazon since old ice maker wasn't dumping out ice and was making loud banging sounds getting stuck trying. Now the new ice maker I just now put in works perfect when I hit the test button, fills up with water, and I never see ice getting dumped. I have to keep hitting the test button to make it dump ice out. Should I tell Amazon that I was sent a faulty ice maker and get a refund? Or is there another part that I need to order and replace? some thermistor possibly? If so, what's the part#?

1 Answer

Hello Charlie, This will be a faulty cycling thermostat inside the ice maker assembly DA97-00258C. This would require dis-assembly of the new part so I would request a replacement or refund.

Gary, There is a plastic clip with a piece of foam that the thermistor should sit in and it will clip to the bottom of the ice tray toward the front. The ice tray will have 2 tabs that the clip should attach to.

Hello Matthews. The Samsung icemakers work the same as others. Make sure the freezer is between 0° and 5°. You need to check and see if there is power going to the water valve when the icemaker cycles. If so, replace the water valve on the unit. If not, or the icemaker does not cycle, you will need to replace the icemaker on the unit. Also, check and make sure the fill tube on the unit is not frozen and clogged. If so, replace the water valve and thaw out the fill tube. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
