Questions & Answers

For Samsung Refrigerator Icemaker Assembly (Part Number: OEM12516573)

1 Answer

Mike, You will want to check the front of the ice bin to make sure that the flap that would open up for the ice to flow for cube does not have ice build up behind it. If it does this will not allow the door to open all the way for cubed and will cause partially crushed ice.

Hello Geary, You will need to replace the icemaker assembly to correct this issue. I'm sorry but we will need to ask you to post a new question including the model number from your units' I.D. tag so we can recommend parts that can be guaranteed to work properly on your unit. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Dean, Unfortunately there is no way to limit the amount of ice in the bucket and the only thing that would possibly cause this would be that the arm is not sensing the ice being full in the bin or a clogged drain for the icemaker.

Susie P. for Model Number RF4267HARS/XXA

Our Samsung side by side fridge has always made loud clunking noises when the ice maker is making ice. Usually it is a loud "dumping" of ice as though it is dumping a bunch of ice into the tray (sounds like a bowling ball hitting the pins-we yell "strike" each time it does it). Now it has started also doing the clunking noises a few seconds apart like it is dumping one or two pieces at a time. It is very loud and now happens several times a day and night. Is there any way to stop it from doing the one at a time clunk? We have learned to live with the loud one time dumping of a bunch of ice but this one at a time now is driving us crazy!

1 Answer

Susie, If this noise is coming from the icemaker then it sounds like the icemaker would be the issue and would need a new icemaker.

Dave for Model Number RF4287HARS/XAA

Samsung RF4287HARS Refrigerator. Ice maker will not make ice. Upon performing a reset, I hear the chime but nothing else happens. Water pressure appears to be good in the water dispenser. The only thing I have not done that I've seen suggested on other sites is do a total defrost to make sure there is not a frozen water line ( Is this possible?) Where should i begin in buying replacement parts? Ice maker itself? control board? water flow valve?

1 Answer

Dave, If the icemaker does not cycle when doing the reset then this will be a faulty icemaker and it will need to be replaced.

Carl for Model Number EM255LABP/AXX

My Samsung refrigerator has been plagued with problems for as long as I can remember. In the freezer, the ice maker works pretty good with the exception that when the ice tray goes to dump the cubes they won't come out of the tray. They are stuck! This is followed by a loud thumping noise. I've found this is the icemaker trying to make the tray twist to release the cubes, but this doesn't work. The tray will twist a little but the ice is frozen to the tray and wont release the cubes. This has, over the years, caused the plastic tabs on the icemaker that holds the motor and tray mechanism to the icemaker to break. I've replaced three icemakers and now this one is broken. How do I get the ice tray to release the ice? When it used to work the ice always was broken up in small pieces, never cubes. HELP!

1 Answer

Carl, If the freezer temperature is set too low it will cause this issue to occur. The recommended temp in the freezer is -2 degrees according to the manufacturer.
