For Samsung Dryer High Limit Thermostat (Part Number: OEM12605697)

T Carle for Model Number dvg45r6300v/a3

My samsung gas dryer starts, burner kicks on for 30 sec. then shuts off. timer goes to 1 minute. On the timed cycles that bypass the moisture sensor, same thing. kicks on once, clicks off. I have replaced everything except the blower switch and start switch, both test fine. Iam talking new control and display board, new gas valve, new thermistors (both) and new high limit switch. I took the drum out and the spring off the belt switch so I could watch what happens, and the ignitor kicks on, the flame switch opens the valve, the burner roars for 30 sec. and thats it. What could I be missing? I put a wet rag on the moisture sensor for the cycles that use it, and same thing! (vents clear) model dvg45r6300v/a3

T Carle, Check the venting of the unit all the way to the outside of your home. Clogged venting can cause this issue to occur.

Dave, it would be recommended that the dryer duct, and the duct going to the outside of the house, are cleared of any build-up that could be preventing proper airflow. Testing the main control for 120VAC at the blue wire on the heater relay would be necessary as well. If the vent is clear and there is not voltage after a 2-minute period, the control has failed. If there is voltage and the duct was clear, the ignitor DC47-00022A would be the most likely cause of failure.

Sid, It sounds like there may be an issue with the gas coils on this unit. You will want to test the coils for resistance to make sure that they are good. You can test the coils using a multi-meter. The two prong coil will read 1,000-1,300 ohms, and the three prong coil will read 1,300-1,400 ohms across prongs 1&2, and 500-600 ohms across prongs 1&3. If the coils are bad then you could use the coil kit 279834.

Usaveteran for Model Number DV328AGR/XAA

Hello - I have a Samsung front loader gas dryer. I cleaned the outside vents, duct hoses, inside duct tube of the machine and made sure the filter and surrounding areas are clean. The dryer heats up upon starting, but soon turns cold after a very short time leaving clothes wet and damp. The tub spins ok, but I upon opening the rear of the machine I found a broken drum wheel inside. Looks like the center sheared off of the spindle (still attached to bracket). I was thinking of a new thermal fuse and a dryer thermistor. Do I need to replace the thermostat(s) as well? Please advise. Thanks.

1 Answer

USAVeteran, if the wheel that sheered off is the one near the motor, it would be the idler pulley DC93-00634A and it is responsible for allowing the motor to receive voltage through the broken belt switch sensor. If the arm of the idler pulley is not being held up by the belt going around the wheel, the motor will not be able to spin which will then stop the heat from being able to turn on in the dryer. The thermostats can be tested for continuity when the dryer power cord is unplugged to identify if they have failed or not. They should have continuity at room temperature.

Hello Jan, You will first need to verify that the thermal fuse DC47-00016A is not open and the ducting to the outside is clear and a full 4-inch diameter. If good, the most common cause of this complaint is a failed ignitor DC47-00022A.

Tom, If the dryer drum is stopping as well then this will most likely be caused by a venting issue or a main control board issue.

Rebecca, It sounds like you may have a weak motor that is not rotating fast enough when there is a heavy load in to get the centrifugal switch to make contact for the heat.

Young Kim, Yes these symptoms it would be either an issue of a bad thermal fuse or a faulty door switch. You will want to check both of these for continuity.
