The Water-Level Pressure Switch is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. It is responsible for detecting the water level inside the washer and communicating this information to the control board to regulate the filling and draining processes. This switch ensures that the washer has the correct amount of water for each cycle, contributing to efficient and effective washing.

You should replace the water-level pressure switch if it malfunctions or fails. Causes of a bad switch can include electrical issues, blockage in the pressure hose, or wear and tear over time.

Symptoms of a bad pressure switch include:

  • Incorrect water levels during cycles
  • The washer not filling or overfilling
  • The washer not advancing to the next cycle
  • Error codes related to water level issues

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Christie for Model Number WFW79HEBW0

Have been receiving Sud and follow-on F9/E1 codes all summer (not with every load, but it's was becoming more frequent). Took washer apart to check drain pump filter and found two coins and some residue. Pump looked fine. Took the time to clean out the drain boot between tub and pump as well as internal and external drain hoses. This helped for about 2 weeks and now I am getting the error codes again. Washer is not draining. What do I try next? New pump - even though the existing sounds like it's working.... ? New water level sensor? Would the vent hose have anything to do with this? Need advice please. Thank you.

Christie, based on the information provided, it is likely that there is a suds residue inside of the tub that may be activating when a cycle is started. The suds can usually be seen by starting an empty cycle and observing the suds start forming within a few minutes. The cleaner Affresh W10549845 can be used to clean the suds residue. When suds occur, as they do not drain out with the water, when they break down they will leave standing water.

Julie, This issue will most likely be caused by a faulty water valve that is not allowing water to pass through the dispenser solenoid.

Hello W.N.W., I"m sorry but you would need to be an engineer to safely achieve your request. The only pressure switch recommended by the manufacturer for this unit is WPW10448876. If replacing it does not correct the issue, make sure there are no obstructions in the hose or at the opening in the outer tub where the hose connects. If nothing is present in there you will need to replace the control since the problem will be in the electronic control W11031829. You should also run the diagnostic tests to see if there are any fault codes pointing to a door switch or other common cause of the issue.

Steve for Model Number WFW94HEAW

I hesitantly purchased a new Whirlpool Front Loader after my old Whirlpool top loader gave up the ghost after 16 years. I immediately noticed the water level was at 1/4 in in the drum at most. Searching on-line I found this was a common complaint creating odors due to incomplete rinses. I am sure this problem was created due to manufactures meeting government requirements for efficiency. I also found information on-line on adjusting the level with a screw on some older models. The switch on my model does not appear to have any adjustment. Can you tell me if there is any adjustment anywhere else on the machine to overcome this problem? If not can you recommend another switch that I can substitute. I am trained in similar service work and have repaired my own washers for 50 years. I can modify any electrical connections if necessary. Thank you.
