Hello Mike. You need to check the clutch 285785 and the drive block WP389140 in the unit. It sounds like the clutch mostly, but make sure the drive block is not stripped out.

Washer will fill, but not agitate. There is a burning smell present... After letting the machine sit for a while I found that it will spin and pump out the water in the basket. But when I tried to do an "extra small" wash the same thing happened; burning smell, no agitation. Also no spin. After waiting again the machine would spin and pump out the basket. If I went back to the agitate mode, it wouldn't agitate. Switching quickly back to the spin mode it would resume spinning... Any ideas?

Hello Grampa. Remove the motor from the transmission. Try running it and see if the motor runs. If it does, then the transmission is locked up and will need to be replaced. If it does not run, the motor may be bad on the unit.

Hello James. You need to check and see if the drive block WP389140 is bad on the unit and needs to be replaced. If so, it will cause the unit to be loud during that cycle.

Nuttaya for Model Number gvw9959kq1

When I run the washer, the basket doesn't spin but I heard that the machine below the tub was spinning. The first time that this thing happened, I could smell like electric burn too. Also when the machine was running from wash to rinse to spin to done, the lid locked light was off. Below I wrote down the time that each thing had happened: Put two small piecies of kitchen rugs into the washer, 8:27 a.m. Sensing was on, lid locked was on, in a few second lid locked light was off then was on again. 8:37 running water, Lid locked was off, and sensing light was on. 8:47 stop running water, change to wash cycle, but the machine was quiet.l 8:52 drained water out, the machine was spinning but not the tub. 8:56 running water 8:57 changed to rinse cycle, had some water in and drained 8:58 changed to spin cycle, quiet until 9:18 a.m. 9:18 Spinning only at the bottom not the tub 9:22 changed to Done and the rugs are still soak wet. What is the problem? Can I fix it myself, what is the part and how much? Thanks.

Hello Nuttaya, This unit needs to be put into the self diagnostic routine. This is fully explained on the tech sheet, (in the control panel or in a plastic bag inside the front of the main cabinet). It is initiated by pressing "SOAK - SOIL LEVEL - SOAK - SOIL LEVEL" within five (5) seconds while the machine is in Standby Mode. This will pull any fault codes which will lead you to the part of the unit experiencing failure.

Hello Dave. The first thing you will need to check is the lid switch on the unit. If it is bad, it will cause the issue you are having with the unit.
