Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Board, Control (Part Number: OEM18031143)

Hello Ed, the dispenser control board part WP67003817 has the push buttons for selections, the facade insert is just a flexible overlay. It sounds like one or more of the pushbuttons is stuck in. If you check the face of the facade and it is bowed inward and may be holding one of the dispenser board push buttons in then the facade insert is part WP67004151.

Hello Linda, I'm sorry but this part includes no instruction sheet. The service manual gives the following instruction: 1. Remove drip tray by pulling it straight out from the door. 2. Remove two hex screws at the bottom of the facade that were hidden by the drip tray. 3. Push down on the facade to release retainer clips. 4. Remove facade and disconnect ten pin connector from the control board. 5. Reverse procedure to reassemble.

Luke, This issue will most likely be caused by a faulty control board WP67003817 with the motor working for the crushed by not the cube setting.

The buttons on the front of the fridge for water, and ice don't seem to work. It is currently on crushed ice and won't switch to water or cube ice. Before this happened it would be on water and then when we tried to select crush or cube ice it would click to it but then go immediately back to water. I have looked at the other postings and it sounds like we might need a control board but do we need to purchase the whole facade as well? The plastic covering on the buttons is cracked around the water button but nothing else on the front of the dispenser is bad.

Hello Kerri. If the unit is cracked and you want to replace it, then you will need to order one. Otherwise, you can just use the old one and replace the board only.

jJoe, Yes, the dispenser control board WP67003817 would be the place to start. The control board has "mini" push switches on the board behind the overlay, the switch(s) can fail and will not activate the chosen selection.

I have the option to buy a Jenn-Air that has the following problem, and I am wondering if it is too expensive to fix: When the Water / Crushed / Cube selector is on water, it dispenses cubed ice, when it is on crushed, it dispenses water & cubes. when it is on cube it just dispenses water. This fridge was returned to the store immediately, and has been sitting in the warehouse for a while, but is essential new. Could this be as simple as a wiring problem, or would it most likely be a board? Thanks!

1 Answer

Hello Mike, This is either going to be a board issue or the harness has an issue, (which may or may not be repairable). The unit will just have to be opened and tested to locate the issue.

Jed, The control board does not send the signal for the icemaker but does for the control board. You will want to make sure that you have a good water filter in the unit. If the water filter is new and good, check to make sure that the water supply is turned on. If you have the bypass plug for unit and the water supply is turned on, put bypass plug in and see if water comes through door. If it doesn't then you most likely have a bad filter head.

Hi Brian. The fountain control board controls commands ,part # WP67003817. The keypad is most likely not stuck as you have a few issues. Behind the Actuator pad, there is a micro switch that can short and call for water or ice depending on the last command chosen. This is part # WP12575501. It wouldn't hurt to lightly use white silicone grease on the actuator pad "finger" as it contacts the switch itself easing operations. Part # TJ055975. Make sure all connections are tight. Thank You.
