Rick March 20, 2017 for Model Number YNED7200TW My dryer's lint filter does not seem to be catching all the lint, so every couple of months, I have to pull out the dryer and remove the lint that's blocking the vent to the outside. We also have to remove lint that is in our outside vent. From seeing every other lint filter on other dryers, there seems to be a felt going around the edge to make sure the lint doesn't go through the vent pipe, but mine doesn't have any felt and seems to have a lip around the edge to fit one in. I assumed the felt had somehow fallen off, so I went to buy a new lint filter and it also does not have any felt on it, so the lint is still going through my vent which defeated the purpose of buying a new filter in the first place and I'm about to return it. My question is: Should these lint filters not have a felt around the edge (since it seems to be the only reason why lint is getting through)? And if not, why doesn't it have a felt when all the other dryer filters I see have a felt around the edge? Many thanks in advance.
1 Answer Rick, This filter will not have felt around it and the dryer lint filter will not be able to collect 100% of the lint even with the felt around the top and this would be considered normal operation. Read More...
Tina F. May 29, 2016 I just bought a used Whirlpool dryer. There is no lint collecting in the lint collector. It is collecting in the bottom of the dryer. Why is this happening?
1 Answer Hello Tina, This is normally caused by a ducting issue with the ducting in the home. The unit should be opened and inspected for any damaged or missing seals/gaskets and/or foreign items in the blower wheel such as a softener sheet which interferes with air flow. Read More...
1 Answer Hello Bruce. Sorry, we do not offer an inline filter. You may want to try an HVAC store for an inline dryer lint filter. Read More...
Gary August 08, 2013 for Model Number lg6151xswo The igniter on my Whirlpool dryer does not glow. The high limit switch and flame sensor both have continuity. How can I test the igniter?
1 Answer Gary, You can do a continuity test on the igniter but it may read continuity and igniter still be bad. You can disconnect the igniter and test for 120 vac to on the wires to the igniter and if there is 120 vac present then the igniter is faulty and would need to be replaced. Read More...
Sarah June 05, 2013 for Model Number Amana NED7200TW Electric Dryer My dryer's lint filter does not seem to be catching all the lint, making it so every two weeks my husband has to pull out the dryer and remove the wad of lint that's blocking the vent to the outside. We recently moved to a new house where the dryer vents almost directly to the outside, and the vent has a swinging trap door. At our old house, I noticed a lot of lint outside around the vent, but because that vent didn't have the trap door, the lint just went outside and the dryer still worked. In this house, the excess lint that's coming out of the dryer blocks the trap door and clogs the vent. My question is, would a new lint filter fix my problem, or this an unfixable issue with my dryer? The lint filter looks fine and doesn't have any tears, but it's just not catching enough lint. I clean it after every use, but there's only a little bit of lint on it each time. Is it possible to add a lint screen to the filter to help it catch more lint? My filter doesn't have a screen. Or would a new lint filter help? My lint filter appears to always have been doing this, so I'm worried a new one will just do the same thing. Thanks for your help!
1 Answer Sarah, You will want to check to make sure that there is not a gap around the filter when sitting in place. If there is then you might want to try a new filter. You will also want to check the blower wheel to make sure that it is not getting clogged up with lint. Read More...
Wendy February 19, 2013 for Model Number LER7848DQ0 I HAVE A WHIRLPOOL DRYER WHICH HAS WORKED GREAT FOR MANY YEARS. RECENTLY I NOTICED A TEAR IN THE DRYER LINT SCREEN AND A CRACK IN THE PLASTIC EDGE. THE TEAR IN SCREEN IS DIRECTLY ALONG THE PLASTIC EDGE THAT HOLDS IT TOGETHER. COULD THE CRACK IN THE PLASTIC AND/OR THE TEAR IN THE SCREEN BE CAUSING THE PROBLEM OF ME HAVING TO RUN THE DRYER 2-3 TIMES TO COMPLETELY DRY 1 LOAD OF LAUNDRY? I HAVE CLEANED THE LINT TRAP WITH A LINT WIZARD TOOL THAT IS ATTACHED TO VACUUM...BARELY ANYTHING WAS IN THERE WHEN DONE CLEANING. ALSO CHECKED OUTSIDE HOUSE WHERE THE DRYER EXITS AND THAT AREA IS ALSO NOT CLOGGED, BUT I STILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH CLOTHES NOT GETTING COMPLETELY DRIED DURING ONE CYCLE. I DON'T WANT TO BUY A NEW DRYER OR PAY FOR A REPAIR PERSON TO COME OUT TO TELL ME THAT I NEED TO REPLACE DRYER LINT TRAP BECAUSE OF TEAR IF THIS IS IN FACT MY PROBLEM. WILL YOU PLEASE HELP ME SO THAT I KNOW WHETHER I'M ON THE RIGHT TRACK BY ASSUMING THAT THE TEAR IN THE PLASTIC AND LINT SCREEN MAY BE CAUSING THE PROBLEM? THANK YOU SO MUCH IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR TIME AND HELP. WENDY
1 Answer Wendy, You're on track, you really need to replace the damaged filter WP349639 and you will need to disconnect the exhaust venting and remoev any built upi lint in the pipes. The excess lint from the broken filter is accumulating in the pipes and restricting the exhaust air flow. You'll also want to use a "Shop Vac", slide it into the dryer exhaust pipe, as far as possible, and remove any lint build up in the pipe and blower housing. Read More...
Ronnie March 28, 2012 My current lint filter does not sit all the way down and the corner catches clothes and tears them... Will this one sit flush?
1 Answer Ronnie, we will need your appliance model number to verify if this lint filter is the correct replacement to your appliance. Also, make sure that the location that the filter installs into does not have any lint build up. This could cause a filter not to install properly and set correctly. Thanks! Read More...
Ron R. July 16, 2011 for Model Number MDE6700AYW The lint filter does not have a fiber gasket around the edge to collect the lint and to prevent lint from entering the exhaust ducting. Does the new lint filter come with a new gasket? Secondly, could I just buy the gasket material and install it on the existing filter? The gasket was not installed by the factory and arrived with the defective filter.
1 Answer Hello Ron! The lint filter for your Maytag Dryer model MDE6700AYW is part number WP35001141. This part does not include any felt. The manufacturer does not offer the felt on this lint filter as it is not needed. Thanks! Read More...
