This replacement part is a control board for washers. The control board is the main computer that sends signals to the washer to perform its essential functions. Over time a control board can become inoperable after excessive use. If the washer is no longer turning on, spinning, rinsing or draining properly, this could mean that the control board needs to be replaced. Luckily this is not a difficult repair.Start by shutting off all power to the appliance. Remove the upper back panel and locate the old control board. Pull it out of its mounted position and take note of the orientation of the wires attached to the old board. Reinsert the wire harness and individual wires into their correct terminals on the new board. Snap the board back into its original place and reinstall the upper back panel. This genuine OEM replacement part is sold individually and is compatible with Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Sears/Kenmore brand refrigerators.

Al for Model Number WTW4800XQ4

The washer functions normally until the end of cycle. If lid is not raised immediately after unlocking, the cycle starts again from the beginning. It'll continue like that over and over. It will also start on it's own if there is an interruption to the household power, ie. thunderstorm, etc. So before I buy a new control board ( AP5645951) what is the reset or reprogram procedure for the control board. I have tried the calibration mode from manual inside the the machine. No help. The manual does not list the reset ? I have been told there is one. Thanks Al

1 Answer

Hello Al. The reset is to unplug it and plug it back in. If that does not work, then the board will need to be replaced.

Hello Jeff, You should pull the tech sheet from the plastic zip lock bag affixed to the inside of the front panel of the unit. This will enable you to run the diagnostic mode to pull the fault codes. This will point you in the direction of the problem.

Trevor, The most likely cause for the units agitator to only turn clock wise would be that the dogs are bad and would need replaced. The part number for the dogs is 80040.

My washer is fairly new. Extended warranty is out. My washer starts like normal, but during the cycle it gets stuck on rinse cycle and the lid locked light flashes red along with the green light on what cycle it is on. Could it be that I need to replace the control board which is W10480177. The MOD is WTW4800XQ4. I did a diagnostic on it and it is F9 E1. there is nothing stuck in the drain tube. Any suggestions what it could be? Thanks in advance!! Danielle

1 Answer

Danielle, The control board could be a cause for this issue but is most likely not. You will want to do some checking and testing on this to determine the cause of the long drain. Check the drain pump and hose to make sure that it is not clogged. Check the sup under the impeller for obstructions. Make sure that the drain hose height is not higher than 8'. Make sure you did not use too much detergent. Check the pressure hose connections from the tub to the pressure sensor to make sure that the hose is not kinked, plugged or leaking air. Then you would want to run test #7 on the tech sheet to make sure that the drain pump is good.

Danielle, In the control panel of the unit there will be a tech sheet, you will want to get the tech sheet out and put the unit into a diagnostic test and see if there are any stored error codes. This would be the best course of action. Also we would need to have the model number of the unit to be able to assist properly.

Hello Juan, The fault codes are built in to aid the technician in case of a needed repair. You do have to realize that the diagnostic circuits are also manmade and can be the cause of the problem. For this reason I agree that the control W10480177 could be your issue, especially since you have replaced the part the control said was bad.
