Michael June 21, 2016 for Model Number WTW4800XQ4 I have been told by a service technician that my control board needs to be replaced. I am fairly handy with tools and am wondering if i can replace the board myself without too much difficulty. the diagram looks like the board is held in place by just one screw, is that correct.
1 Answer Michael, Yes the control board is pretty straight forward to replace. You will need to access the control panel and remove the control board but relatively simple repair. Read More...
Melissa May 17, 2016 Wtw4800xq2 model whirlpool washer, purchased in 2012 from sears. It fills like normal, begins first round of agitation, then just stops and sits there full of water. I had to cancel the wash and select drain and spin just to get the clothes out if the machine without being dripping wet. I was told by a 'repairman' that the timer was bad. What are your suggestions
1 Answer Hello Melissa. Yes, it sounds like the control board W10480177 is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. Read More...
Al March 23, 2016 for Model Number WTW4800XQ4 The washer functions normally until the end of cycle. If lid is not raised immediately after unlocking, the cycle starts again from the beginning. It'll continue like that over and over. It will also start on it's own if there is an interruption to the household power, ie. thunderstorm, etc. So before I buy a new control board ( AP5645951) what is the reset or reprogram procedure for the control board. I have tried the calibration mode from manual inside the the machine. No help. The manual does not list the reset ? I have been told there is one. Thanks Al
1 Answer Hello Al. The reset is to unplug it and plug it back in. If that does not work, then the board will need to be replaced. Read More...
Jeff March 17, 2016 for Model Number WTW4800XQ2 My washer seems to go through each of its cycles as I watch the status lights beneath the timer knob progress. However, the knob never moves. Eventually when program is finished, the status light "done" is lit and the door unlocks. Will this require a new control module board for the timer to begin advancing again?
1 Answer Hello Jeff, You should pull the tech sheet from the plastic zip lock bag affixed to the inside of the front panel of the unit. This will enable you to run the diagnostic mode to pull the fault codes. This will point you in the direction of the problem. Read More...
Trevor T February 25, 2016 for Model Number WTW4800XQ2 The washing machine fills with water then agitates in a clockwise direction only, causing the clothes to become trapped beneath the agitator. I have checked the motor and capacitor and for broken wires. What shall I check next?
1 Answer Trevor, The most likely cause for the units agitator to only turn clock wise would be that the dogs are bad and would need replaced. The part number for the dogs is 80040. Read More...

Danielle March 24, 2015 for Model Number WTW4800XQ4 My washer is fairly new. Extended warranty is out. My washer starts like normal, but during the cycle it gets stuck on rinse cycle and the lid locked light flashes red along with the green light on what cycle it is on. Could it be that I need to replace the control board which is W10480177. The MOD is WTW4800XQ4. I did a diagnostic on it and it is F9 E1. there is nothing stuck in the drain tube. Any suggestions what it could be? Thanks in advance!! Danielle
1 Answer Danielle, The control board could be a cause for this issue but is most likely not. You will want to do some checking and testing on this to determine the cause of the long drain. Check the drain pump and hose to make sure that it is not clogged. Check the sup under the impeller for obstructions. Make sure that the drain hose height is not higher than 8'. Make sure you did not use too much detergent. Check the pressure hose connections from the tub to the pressure sensor to make sure that the hose is not kinked, plugged or leaking air. Then you would want to run test #7 on the tech sheet to make sure that the drain pump is good. Read More...

1 Answer Danielle, In the control panel of the unit there will be a tech sheet, you will want to get the tech sheet out and put the unit into a diagnostic test and see if there are any stored error codes. This would be the best course of action. Also we would need to have the model number of the unit to be able to assist properly. Read More...
Juan February 10, 2015 for Model Number WTW4800XQ4 I changed the shifter assembly on this machine becuase that is the fault code it gave. Put in and calibrated the machine. Machine worked but not like it should. It would restart and wash again. Worked for two months like this. Now it fills and over flows. Checked the fault codes and it saying its the shift assembly again. I really thinking its the control panel.
1 Answer Hello Juan, The fault codes are built in to aid the technician in case of a needed repair. You do have to realize that the diagnostic circuits are also manmade and can be the cause of the problem. For this reason I agree that the control W10480177 could be your issue, especially since you have replaced the part the control said was bad. Read More...
