This replacement part is a control board for washers. The control board is the main computer that sends signals to the washer to perform its essential functions. Over time a control board can become inoperable after excessive use. If the washer is no longer turning on, spinning, rinsing or draining properly, this could mean that the control board needs to be replaced. Luckily this is not a difficult repair.Start by shutting off all power to the appliance. Remove the upper back panel and locate the old control board. Pull it out of its mounted position and take note of the orientation of the wires attached to the old board. Reinsert the wire harness and individual wires into their correct terminals on the new board. Snap the board back into its original place and reinstall the upper back panel. This genuine OEM replacement part is sold individually and is compatible with Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Sears/Kenmore brand refrigerators.

For Whirlpool Control Board (Part Number: OEM16937862)

Rex for Model Number WTW4800XQ0

Hello, I have watched many of your videos recently to learn about my Whirlpool top load washer. It has worked great for years and suddenly when it gets to the final high-speed spin it will not wring the clothes out dry. It stays at low speed and then times out and goes to Done. It will run fast on an empty basket but will not go to high speed with wet clothes in the basket. What might this be? I have a few ideas but do not want to order parts and find out it was not the part I thought it was and paid for from your company. I want to fix it right the first time and not be a parts changer. Thanks, RK

Rex, It would be recommended to put the unit into diagnostic mode and check to see if there are error codes. The tech sheet for this unit is located on the inside front of the unit. Based on what the unit is doing it may be that the speed sensor is bad and would need a new shift actuator but recommend checking error codes.

Rex, with the power supply cord unplugged, the motor WPW10006415 would need to be tested from the main control using the connection J16. From pin 6 to pin 5, then from pin 7 to pin 5, there would be a resistance reading between 3.5O to 6O. If the windings test good, and the spin basket rotates freely without any indications of grinding, the failure could be in the shifter or in the main control. The shifter WPW10006355 optics can be tested by reconnecting the wires, plugging the power cord in and starting a tachometer verification mode in the diagnostic mode. When rotating the spin basket at this time, the status LEDs should illuminate one at a time. If this checks good, then the failure would be in the main control W10745340.

Hello Tom, before you replace any parts run the service test mode to determine what the control board sees as a problem. Your washer came with a Test sheet, it is located behind the front cabinet panel on the inside near the top in a plastic bag. It has all testing information, schematic and troubleshooting information. Also, this washer model will not allow any operation if the wash cycle was stopped for any reason and there is standing water in the tub. It has to drain it out first.

Joe, You will need to check to see if the pressure hose is clogged and if it is not then this will be a faulty main control board.

Pat, With the shift actuator having already been replaced then the most likely cause for this issue would be the main control board.

Sheri for Model Number WTW4800XQ4

I just had a water pump put on my washer due to washer froze up and would not continue to fill up or agitate, but washer had further problems like an imbalance problem after tub was replaced thinking possible gear-tub problems but thinking this may be causing my board problems on the rinse to not filling up or not even 1/4 of a small load then continuing to spin out, jeez, is this a problem with the board malfunctioning as far as the short rinse cycle, its not even rinsing soap out of the clothes. Could imbalance tub problems cause sensor problems to the board? What do i need to fix for wash cycle to run thru properly?

1 Answer

Sheri, Based on the information it sounds like the issue will most likely be in the control board if there is short cycling on the rinse.

Kiefer, If the drain is continuing to run and will not do anything further then yes it would most likely be a control board that has failed.
