Jess August 04, 2015 for Model Number 1CWTW4840YW1 My clothes have been getting black smudges and I found what looks like charcoal in the tub. I took off the agitator and found the interior smeared with black. The screw inside the tub that holds the agitator down has a bunch of the stuff on it, as if something rusted there, or... I don't know. Is this common? Was the agitator installed improperly? The spin system was functioning with no problems.
1 Answer Hello Jess. It sounds like the gearcase W11454741 has failed and will need to be replaced on the unit. The oil is coming out of it. Read More...
Scott March 25, 2015 for Model Number Kenmore 80 series model 110 2586240 Can't get socket on worn down rusty bolt to remove agitator.
1 Answer Hello Scott, In severe cases the agitator can be chiseled off. Before doing this I would recommend to let the bolt soak in penetrating oil to try to loosen it up. Read More...
Elizabeth R February 09, 2015 for Model Number WTW5200VQ2 After wash stops notice there is a tear in some of the clothing as if agitator was ripping clothes. Any info. thank you
1 Answer Elizabeth, A couple of checks to make, try to slip you finger tips under the bottom of the agitator, there shouldn't be any more than 1/4 to 3/8 inch upward movement if there's more you will need to remove the cap and tighten the agitator bolt. Take an old nylon stocking, lightly bundle it up and pass it over the agitator and tub surface, if there are any sharp edges or damaged areas it will snag and you can smooth out the spot with sand paper or replace the agitator ( this is a nylon stocking, what snags that, may not be big enough to snag or tear "normal" articles. If all is OK or in range/expectations, reduce the load size and try to reduce the amount of "mixed" loads. Read More...

Justin August 02, 2014 On my washer on spin cycle, the agitator spins off balance and my washer moves around my garage. What is the part called that I need to replace?
1 Answer Hello Justin, If we could ask you to please re-post with the model number from your units' I.D. tag, we can look it up and give you a good diagnosis and part numbers. The first thing I would check on a top load Whirlpool Direct drive is the skate plate WP3946509. This is assuming your model number is this configuration. Read More...
Mike July 25, 2014 for Model Number LSQ9010PGO I hear a noise (like something wearing out) when washer is running. Only during the agitating time. I believe it maybe the Direct drive washer motor coupling problem. What's your thoughts? Thank you
1 Answer Mike, The issue could be the motor coupler that is bad but normally would have issue during the spin as well. The most likely cause of the issue would be worn out agitator dogs or agitator cam. Read More...

1 Answer Mike, The complete agitator assembly does have the agitator repair kit in it, including the cam and the dogs. It will not have the bolt so you will either want to get another bolt or a little lock tite for the threads to make sure that it does not loosen while in use. Read More...
