Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Icemaker Assembly (Part Number: OEM9548208)

Hello Kyle. Make sure the freezer is between 0° and 5°. You need to check and see if there is power going to the water valve when the icemaker cycles. If so, replace the water valve on the unit. If not, or the icemaker does not cycle, you will need to replace the icemaker on the unit. Also, check and make sure the fill tube on the unit is not frozen and clogged. If so, replace the water valve and thaw out the fill tube. If all is good, replace the emmiter boards on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Kay, If the light on the wall is not glowing at all then you would need a new emitter board. If it glows solid then it is good and would need a new icemaker which is part number 2198597.

Neil, There is not a way adjustment to produce more ice. On this unit there should be 8 cubes made approximately every 1 to 1 1/2 hours. If the icemaker is not making that much then the issue would most likely be in the emitter board if it is faulty or that the temperature in the freezer is not cold enough. If the freezer temp is not cold enough then you will want to check for the fan motor running and check the coils to make sure that they have a good even frost pattern and that they are not impacted with ice.

Hello Meleisa. If the unit is overfilling, then you will need to replace the water valve. If the cubes look correct, then the dispenser flap pr door gasket may be bad and letting warm air into the freezer.

Chris, The icemaker part number for your unit is 2198597. You will want to check the light on the right wall when you open the freezer door for it flashing. If it is not flashing the push on the light switch and see if it is. If it is not then replace the emitter board. If the light is flashing when you open the door then push on the flapper on the left side and see if it continues to flash, no flash but solid would be good. If it continues to flash then the issue will be the emitter board W11629974. Also check the fill tube on the icemaker to see if it is clogged. If this checks ok then you will want to replace the icemaker.

Alan, The only way to check the icemaker would be during a cycle and check to see if there is 120 vac getting to the water valve when the icemaker calls for water. If there is no power then the icemaker would be the issue. You will also want to check the emitter board. Open the door and on the right wall there should be a light flashing. Push the flapper on the left door without blocking the hole on the flapper and see if the light continues to flash or glows solid. If the light continues to flash then replace the emitter board.
