Matt M. for Model Number sg1000

My Maytag SG1000 washer is constantly going to the "pause" light indicator. It was working fine and now it won't engage the wash cycles (if I hit the "pause/resume" tab 100 times, sometimes it will work). I managed to get a load of clothing going (after hitting the "pause/resume" over and over) and it stopped working at the spin cycle. I got the individual "spin" tab to start this cycle again but, it stops half way through and goes to the "pause/resume" light/tab. I think the control board may be malfunctioning. Matt

Matt, You'll need to remove power to the stack set, and remove the front panel off the washer. You'll need to check the micro switch WP10533003 and wires on the lid latch assembly. You'll also want to move the washer out far enough to access the umbilcal cord, disconnect it and check to make sure the pins and receptacles are all clean and properly seated and locked in place. These are low DC voltage circuits, and it doesn't take much to make them "fail"

When I push the "regular" cycle wash indicator light the water does not begin filling the tub. All the other lights are on and the "L" appears. When I push the "Pause/Resume" indicator light the "L' turns to "10" for a second or two and then goes back to "L". Is this an electrical problem or a pump problem? When I push the "regular" dryer indicator light it flashes and shows "E2". I close the dryer door and the indicator lights keeps flashing and nothing else happens. Is this related to the problem with the washer?

1 Answer

Hello Doug. The L is for the lid lock and the E2 is normal for the dryer. You will need to look for loose connections or a bad lid lock assembly 206598.

Puzzled In San Mateo for Model Number SG10000

Great washer/dryer combination unit. Contractor came in and put new tile on kitchen floor and moved unit, leaned it on side. When it was hooked back up the washer would not fill with water. Contractor claimed to fix it. Now the washer will fill with water but not drain. Dryer works fine. Called Appliance Repair and they said the control panel needed to be replaced. They said the part is no longer available so buy a new unit! Does anyone know if this part is what needs to be replaced? Thanks so much!!!

Jeremy L. for Model Number sg1000

I hope u can help. I have a maytag SG1000 washer dryer stacked unit. In the center is a touchpad. The dryer simply stopped responding to all activation push-points. The washer responds, but there also some functions do not respond. I am pretty handy and tested and examined the pressure panel and control board. They both look ok. I have had trouble in the past and a good cleaning of the plug contacts cures everything. Not so lucky this time. When assembled the washer cold fill, and pause do not respond. None of the dryer activators respond. The self-diagnostic runs fine and shows no errors. I have the user manual and checked continuity on the pressure panel point to the ribbon leads. All seems OK including the cold fill and pause and all the dryer points. I suspect the L3 connection from the ribbon to the control board is faulty. How can I check beyond what I've done? Is there a fix to the ribbon connector, if that is the problem. Can I shunt test the leads to simulate the button press without blowing things up? The self test is OK but could the control board still be NG? or partially NG? I am determined to keep this beutiful made Maytag alive. At this point I truly need an experienced eye, something I lack. Please help! Thanks JL

Hi Jeremy. I honestly commend your persistence. There is a potentiometer in the back area of the control board, along in the circuit with the Blue or the Red mov's. Turn the potentiometer a little either way and see if it will come off the "dead" spot to revive your issues. Also check your E-mail. Thank you.

Hi SM. The parts you mentioned will cause a error code as we previously discussed. The touchpad unresponsive is because the ribbon cable not completely installed correctly? Is it pinched or misaligned in the clock connector? Try to find a potentiometer by the m.o.v. and slightly adjust it. Let us know as we can help if needed. Thank you.

Sm for Model Number SE1000

The touch pad doesn't respond at all. I replaced both the control board and the touch pad with newer parts. I confirmed on the four pin connector to the control board that I get 10VAC (red/black - red/black)and 26VAC (blue - blue) (actually 27 or so VAC). Checked the same thing on the transformer output too and the voltages look good. I tried to get the control board to do its own self-diagnostics by the sequence: 1) press Washer-OFF 2) press Dryer-OFF 3) While Dryer-Signal on/off pressed, press Washer-Regular. But that doesn't do anything either. Still unresponsive. So I am really lost on how to proceed. I must note that I started this whole repair thing only because the dryer had 7E on its display. But as soon as I turned off power to troubleshoot the 7E problem and bring the power back on, the touch pad became unresponsive. Since then I have been following instructions for troubleshooting the "unresponsive touch pad" problem and I am out of ideas. Now my question is whether the original 7E indication has anything to do with my still unresponsive touch pad. Please note that throughout this troubleshooting process, I replaced both control board and touch pad already. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Really appreciate your help. Best regards.

1 Answer

Hi Sm. The 7E code is because of overheating. You first need to clean the vent and vent cap entirely. Then change the thermistor part # is 306056. Mounted on the blower hsg. The cycling thermostat is part # 306060.

Hi Mr. A. Remove all power to the unit. The control panel has 2- phillips screws in the lower lt. and rt. cforners. Once remove you will then fold the chrome panel up and off the front assembly. Then you will be able to see all the inter panel and control board screws. There is a flat ribbon cable that needs to gently fold back in and not pinch. The electrical plugs should be straight forward connections. Take pictures for reassemble as it can be challenging. Thank you.

First I sometimes hear asound coming from the front panel, even when the unit is off. This has been going on for a year, and I usually just unplug the unit. Now, I can not get the units to work simitaneously, and once one is started, like the washer, I can not change the setting. The same goes for the dryer. I am wondering if it is not the "mother computor board? The machine will wash, sping, etc, but not if i have the dryer on. And if by chance, I get the dryer and washer on, the washer will zip throuth its cycles in a matter of 2 minutes.

1 Answer

Weezer, First thing, check your voltage to the machine make sure thre is at least 220 VAC at the dryer terminal block, then you will need to replace a couple of parts. The control board WP33001048 and the Spark Gap assembly 306130 mounted on the front bulkhead behind the dryer front panel. Thanks and Good Luck.
