Wes B. for Model Number MDBH955AWW

My dishwashers heating element will not turn off. As long as the door is latched shut the heating element stays hot, even if its not in a wash cycle or running in any way. Some of the research I did suggested replacing the control board. However, I also read there may be another issue causing the control board to fail this way, and if that issue isnt found and fixed the control board could fail again or potentially even catch fire. I estimate this d/w to be about 6-7 years old. Do you think its worth trying to fix or should I start shopping for a new one?Where would you recommend I begin? Thanks!

Hello Wes. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the relay in the control board 12002709 is bad and will need to be replaced. Only if a wire is shorted to the heater and is causing the heater to stay on, would there be another issue other than the relay. Hope this helps.

I had hot, soapy water run down over the front of the dishwasher, and somehow it got inside the door also. I dried the control panel and the control board with a hair dryer. Now as soon as you shut the door, the dishwasher starts, and starts to wash, with four different lights lit on the control panel. I can not cancel the wash unless I open the door, and the lights remain lit. I have to turn the breaker off to cancel the lights. Do I need to replace the control board or the control panel, or both? Thanks, Jeff

Our dishwasher in recent months has started to flash the number "9" on the LED display. We unplug the unit and sometimes this seems to reset things, other times not. Once we select the "Normal" wash cycle, that indicator light flashes...although in the LED display, it counts down the number of mins. left to finish its cycle. As an aside, although perhaps related, 2 months ago I replaced the water pump and the wash impeller due to a food particles that it was leaving on the dishes. That problem seems to have been fixed, but now this one has surfaced.

Hello Duane. No, you can not order the ribbon cable by itself, you will need to order the control panel assembly 6-919844. If the ribbon cable is burnt, you will need to replace the control panel. Hope this helps.

Duane, Very good idea, using a meter could save you quite a lot of time and money. You will need to remove the kickplate and access panel, you should find the wiring diagram and tech information sheet attached to the back side of the panel. You'll be able to test for open and closed circuits at the door switches, and touchpad ribbon tracers. You most likely have a faulty keypad/ control panel 6-919844, but test the door switches for a closed circuit when the switch plunger is depressed WPW10275768 if the door switches and the keypad ribbons test proper, then replace the control board 12002709. Thanks and Good Luck

Hello C. Check and make sure there is power coming to the control board from the door switches. Also, make sure the ribbon cable from the control panel is seated properly in the control board 12002709. If both of these are good, then the control panel 6-919819 is bad and will need to be replaced. Hope this helps.

VJ, If, the dishwasher programs the cycles, and the display and lights work, Your issue is a fill problem. You will need to check, the float, W10202535 make sure it's not stuck in the up position, the float switch and bracket 99002943 you should hear a click noise whenever you raise and lower the float assembly, then the fill valve 99002628 and all the wires to the valve and switch. If all's OK, then consider a control board. Good Luck and Thanks
