Brian May 11, 2012 My Maytag dryer has control lights on the front panel and I can select different cycles and heat levels. The machine just beeps when the start button is pushed. I have checked the thermal fuse and the door switch and both are fine. Is there any way to check the control board? Looking for any suggestions.
1 Answer Hi Brian. What is your model # ? Send us this so we can get you the correct part #. It may just need a door switch. It will be advantageous to find the supplied tech sheet inside the cabinet to aid you in the diagnosis. It allows you to put the unit in a diagnostic mode which brings up fault codes and tells you which circuit needs assistance. Thank You. Read More...
Ron M. April 06, 2012 for Model Number 110.85087401 My electric dryer started beeping all the time. It continues to dry the clothes but the constant sound of beeping is very annoying. What needs replaced?
1 Answer Hello Ron, It really sounds like a bad control panel to me. Not the board but the touch panel. There are 4 different colors that Kenmore model numbers don't designate. The blue is part number WP8558763. The white is 280100. The bisque is WP8558764. And the red is WP3980639. Read More...
Vision1227 March 18, 2012 for Model Number 110.85087400 Hi, the primary side of transformer on this control board blew when I hooked it up due to the wiring in the outlet being incorrectly wired. I would like to replace the board, but I would like to make sure other components weren't damaged. Do you have a wiring schematic of this board? Thanks for your help.
1 Answer Hello vision1227. Sorry, but Kenmore does not offer wiring diagrams for us to provide. You will need to check on the appliance and see if the diagram is on there. Sorry again! Read More...
Randa February 25, 2012 for Model Number MED9600SQ0 Please provide me with detailed instructions on how to install this item.
2 Answers Randa, Here's an excerpt from the Service Manual, as you requested : " 1. Unplug dryer or disconnect power. 2. Turn off gas supply to dryer. 3. Pull the dryer away from the wall far enough to access the back. 4. Remove the three hex-head screws from the rear flange of the dryer’s top cover. NOTE: The top cover screws have nylon flat washers on them. Be sure to use these screws when you reinstall the top cover.5. Lift the rear of the top cover and slide it back so the tabs clear the catches on the bracket, and remove the cover from the unit. NOTE: Make sure that the tabs slide under the bracket catches when you reinstall the top cover.6. Remove the three screws from the electronic control board bracket and pull the bracket away from the side of the dryer so you can access the connectors. 7. Disconnect the 3-wire connector from the main harness. 8. Remove the following connectors and wires from the electronic control board: 5-wire connector at P1. Red and black wires at relay K1. 7-wire connector at P2. Ribbon cables at P3 and P4. 9. Remove the 1/4 inch hex-head screw from the electronic control board. 10. Squeeze the two board supports and remove the electronic control board from the bracket." Thanks and Good Luck Read More...
Randa February 25, 2012 for Model Number MED9600SQ0 Please provide me with detailed instructions on how to install this item.
2 Answers Hi Randa. You need to remove power. Then you need to remove the 3-torx t-20 screws that hold the top on at the back of the top. Then slide the top back about 1" and lift up and off. The control board is part # WP8546219. It is mounted on the lt.side from the front view. ground your hands over and over a few times to get rid of the static ground so you do not ruin the new board. Use a cell phone for pictures if needed. Take notes of all electrical connections as they are on the board so you replace them correctly. It is best if you can only take one off at a time and put them on the board. Just touch the corners of the board. Thank You. Read More...
Wayne T February 23, 2012 for Model Number 110.95081401 Hello, My problem is very similar to the above problem. When trying to operate my Kenmore HE3 dryer model #110.95081401, the drum won't turn. The dryer has power and a drying cycle can be selected, there are no error codes. When the start button is pushed, a click can be heard, like a relay or solenoid, which sounds the same when the dryer functions normally. After the click, the drum won't spin. This is what I have tested so far: 1. The drum spins easily by hand. 2. With the belt off, the motor shaft spins easily by hand. 3. The motor still won't run with the belt off. 4. The motor does not hum at all. 5. The "belt broken" switch was tested with an ohm meter and is functioning. 6. When the start button is pressed I get the following voltage measurements at the wiring connector for the motor: White/Black - 120v White/Blue - 17.5v Black/Blue - 32v. 7. The Thermal Fuse was tested with an ohm meter and is functioning. 8. I checked the resistance at the motor windings and got 1.6 ohms at both the main and start windings. The tech sheet says they should read 2.4-3.6 ohms. This is low, but I'm not sure if this is the problem. 9. I the door switch is functioning. 10. When I checked the resistance across P1-3 and P1-4 on the Main Control Board per the tech sheet and got nothing, so I replaced the Main Control Board. When I removed the old board I could see a fried contact on the bottom of the motor relay (I was excited!). I put in the new board and it did not solve the problem! Could I be missing something? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you, Wayne T
1 Answer Hi Wayne. You need to put the machine into the field service test as directed in the tech. sheet in the packet inside the cabinet. Make sure the dryer terminal block has the full 240 vac at the 2- outer L-1 and L-2 legs. Also you need full 120 vac between each outer leg and the middle (Neutral) wire. If not there your dryer will have these issues. The motor runs on 120 vac , but it also has the other 120 vac leg flowing through the motor centrifugal switch to the heater circuit. Use the wiring diagram supplied in the service tech sheet . Then jump the belt switch. (Drum out) closed door switch and check for 120 vac at the motor thermal fuse and the white neutral wire. Our archives do not show the wiring diagram for your unit yet. The motor windings are low. The readings allow only 10 % acceptable rating. The motor part # 279787. Thank You. Read More...
Charley December 23, 2011 for Model Number Ggw9250pwo Dryer will start warm and then cutoff heat. Have changed fuse, thermistor sensor is registering wet. Panel is not showing any errors when I run the diagnostic? What else should I consider?
1 Answer Charley, With the work you've done and the post description, you need to look at ( replace) the gas valve coils 279834. They're probably weak and fail after a few minutes of operation. Thanks and Good Luck Read More...
Max T. November 06, 2011 for Model Number 11085866400 kenmore elite The dryer has no power at all exp. light when you open door. I have 240 going in, no other lights at all. Checked thermal fues ok. Done other test by diagram still no power. Please help. Thanks Max.
1 Answer Hi Max. There is a wiring diagram folded in a packet in the cabinet that will assist you in diagnosis. Are you getting 120 vac out to the board from the incoming filter? You can jumper the door switch to see if this is at fault. Door switch is part # WP8283288. The light bulb can be blown, part # WP22002263. The electronic console is part # 280086.The control board is part # 280087. Thank You. Read More...
Angel October 05, 2011 for Model Number gew9250pw0 Thanks for the reply! So I should test to see if the interface is even getting power, when it is in a state of non-working. Using a multimeter, how would I go about doing this? What setting on the meter do I put it on, and where should I touch the probes to? Thanks Again!
1 Answer Hello Angle. On P3-14 and P4-2, you should have .5-1.5 VDC, if there is power coming to the console when the lights are off and the start button is pressed. If not, replace the control board WP8546219. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Angel October 04, 2011 for Model Number GEW9250PW0 Hello, our dryer has started acting up. Woke up one morning and it was just unresponsive. I noticed that some of the front LED's are very dimly lit. Was able to get the machine into diagnostic mode (didn't get any codes though), back out of d-mode, and the dryer started working fine again for several days. Now it has stopped working again. We are unable to get it into d-mode. We looked at the tech sheet and ran test with a multimeter on the ribbons & the front buttons & knob...they all gave readings like the sheet said they should. At first we were thinking it might be the front user interface, now we are leaning toward the control board. It (the control board) was very, very dusty when we opened it up & looked at it. I used the crevice tool on my vacuum cleaner to gently remove some dust, but I was out of canned air so I didn't get it as clean as it needs to be...after all those test were done, everything put back together & plugged back in, it came on. It was sort of acting like it was in d-mode, as it would beep when you turned the knob, but it would not start, and none of the buttons had any effect. For the heck of it, I unplugged it, plugged it back in, now it's dead again, with the dim led's on the front. Any help appreciated! Thanks!
1 Answer Hello Angel. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the control panel WP8558756 is bad and will need to be replaced. Make sure there are no loose connections. Also check and see if there is pwer coming to the control panel when the panel does not work. If not, replace the control board WP8546219. If there is power to it and it does not work, replace the control panel. Hope this helps. Read More...
