Hello Patrick. There can be several things that can cause the board to burn out. If the motor is good, then a new control board WP8546219 should fix the problem. Below is the motor test from the manufacture. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html TEST #2 Motor Circuit Test This test will check the wiring to the motor and the motor itself. The following items are part of this system: – Harness/connection – Thermal fuse – Belt/belt switch – Motor – Door switch – Machine control electronics. See ESD information, page 1. 1. Unplug dryer or disconnect power. 2. Access the machine control electronics and measure the resistance across P1-3 and P1-4. See Accessing & Removing the Electronic Assemblies, page 7. ? If resistance across P1-3 and P1-4 is in the range of 1 to 6 ohms, replace the machine control electronics. ? Otherwise, go to step 3. 3. Check the wiring and components in the path between these measurement points by referring to the wiring diagram on page 2. 4. Check the thermal fuse. 5. Check the belt switch and motor. Access the belt switch and motor by removing the back panel. See page 8. Carefully remove the drum belt from the spring-loaded belt switch pulley, gently letting the belt switch pulley down. 6. Remove the white connector from the drive motor switch. 7. Using figure 6, check for the resistance values of the motor’s Main and Start winding coils as shown below. NOTE: Main and Start winding coils must be checked at the motor. MAIN 2.4–3.6 O Blue wire in back and white/orange wire START 2.4–3.8 O Blue wire in back and violet wire

Hello JT. It sounds like the venting system is clogged or kinked. You will need to check the vent and clean it out. Be sure and clean the vent pipe and the dryer air duct assembly. If the air flow is not good, the unit will retain moist air causing the clothes not to dry. Try running the unit with the vent unhooked from the back of the dryer and see if the dryer works properly. Hope this helps.

Hello Daryl! If the lights are dim, it is likely the control board itself has failed. That part is WP8558756. I hope this helps.

Scott for Model Number 110.85081400

My Kenmore (by Whirlpool) dryer will not start. The control panel recognizes all of the normal inputs, but when you select "start", you hear the solenoid "click" and then it won't do anything. You have to hit cancel twice to get it to reset. We tested the Thermal Fuse and it appears to be fine. The door latch sensor also appears to be functioning normally. Is there a common part that I should look at buying, rather than buying an entire new panel? Can I return a control panel if the new one doesn't solve the problem? Thank you!

Hello Scott! Check and see if you are getting power from the board to motor. You can check this with a mulimeter. If it is then you have a bad motor, if it is not you will need to replace the control board. The controls come in different colors: 280100 is white, WP8558763 is pacific blue, WP8558764 is champagne, WP3980639 is sedona. The motor is part number 279787. Hope this helps!

Hello Trent. Check and make sure all the switches are plugged in correctly, and that one of the wires didn't come off while doing the repair. If all of this is good, you can test and see where you are loosing power at. You will need to use your wiring diagram to do this. Hope this helps.

Hello Trent. The new belt should be good and tight, if it is on the pulleys correct. If it feels loose and is not closing the contact of the switch, the dryer will not run. Check and make sure you have it on the pulleys correct. Hope this helps.
