Steve June 16, 2011 for Model Number gew9250pwo When I press the start button it doesnt do anything. When it does start it runs but the end of cycle buzzer keeps buzzing. Is the problem the circuit board behind the front panel or the circuit board under the sheild on the left side with the buzzer on? Cant afford to take a guess. If any body has an answer. Thank you.
1 Answer Hello Steve. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the electronic control WP8558756 may be bad and will need to be replaced. If the start button is not working, this is the board you will need. Hope this helps. Read More...
Rick June 01, 2011 for Model Number GGW9250PW2 Won't power up front panel when you press Control On. If i press it 20 to 40 times it might turn on. Checked cable that runs from switch board to control board using documentation to check switches with multimeter and they checked out fine according to documentation, no intermittance good solid readings. I'm guessing the control board but would like to be sure. Is there any other test I could do.
1 Answer Hello Rick. If the user interface WP8558756 tested ok, then the control board WP8546219 will need to be replaced. Hope this helps. Read More...
Patrick June 01, 2011 for Model Number gew9250pwo What would make the electronic control board fry ? A large black module next to where its labeled "motor" burnt out.
1 Answer Hello Patrick. There can be several things that can cause the board to burn out. If the motor is good, then a new control board WP8546219 should fix the problem. Below is the motor test from the manufacture. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html TEST #2 Motor Circuit Test This test will check the wiring to the motor and the motor itself. The following items are part of this system: – Harness/connection – Thermal fuse – Belt/belt switch – Motor – Door switch – Machine control electronics. See ESD information, page 1. 1. Unplug dryer or disconnect power. 2. Access the machine control electronics and measure the resistance across P1-3 and P1-4. See Accessing & Removing the Electronic Assemblies, page 7. ? If resistance across P1-3 and P1-4 is in the range of 1 to 6 ohms, replace the machine control electronics. ? Otherwise, go to step 3. 3. Check the wiring and components in the path between these measurement points by referring to the wiring diagram on page 2. 4. Check the thermal fuse. 5. Check the belt switch and motor. Access the belt switch and motor by removing the back panel. See page 8. Carefully remove the drum belt from the spring-loaded belt switch pulley, gently letting the belt switch pulley down. 6. Remove the white connector from the drive motor switch. 7. Using figure 6, check for the resistance values of the motor’s Main and Start winding coils as shown below. NOTE: Main and Start winding coils must be checked at the motor. MAIN 2.4–3.6 O Blue wire in back and white/orange wire START 2.4–3.8 O Blue wire in back and violet wire Read More...
Jt May 26, 2011 for Model Number 11082832100 When using the automatic drying features the dryer won't go lower then 13 minutes. It keeps running but stays on 13 minutes. Manual work fine.
1 Answer Hello JT. It sounds like the venting system is clogged or kinked. You will need to check the vent and clean it out. Be sure and clean the vent pipe and the dryer air duct assembly. If the air flow is not good, the unit will retain moist air causing the clothes not to dry. Try running the unit with the vent unhooked from the back of the dryer and see if the dryer works properly. Hope this helps. Read More...
Cody S. May 24, 2011 for Model Number gew900lw2 When dryer is turned on control panel comes on. When you push start the mainboard clicks and it won't spin drum or heat.
1 Answer Hello Cody. It sounds like your unit has blown the thermal fuse WP3392519. Here is a link to your model diagram's : http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5136063&diagram_id=28198164#d28198164 . Refer to part number 59 for location. Also if this is blown, you will want to locate the cause of the malfunction. Make sure all of the exhaust vent is clean, hope this helps! Read More...
Daryl May 23, 2011 for Model Number GEW9250PWO The unit won't power up and has a few dim lights on front panel. What could be wrong?
1 Answer Hello Daryl! If the lights are dim, it is likely the control board itself has failed. That part is WP8558756. I hope this helps. Read More...
Scott April 10, 2011 for Model Number 110.85081400 My Kenmore (by Whirlpool) dryer will not start. The control panel recognizes all of the normal inputs, but when you select "start", you hear the solenoid "click" and then it won't do anything. You have to hit cancel twice to get it to reset. We tested the Thermal Fuse and it appears to be fine. The door latch sensor also appears to be functioning normally. Is there a common part that I should look at buying, rather than buying an entire new panel? Can I return a control panel if the new one doesn't solve the problem? Thank you!
1 Answer Hello Scott! Check and see if you are getting power from the board to motor. You can check this with a mulimeter. If it is then you have a bad motor, if it is not you will need to replace the control board. The controls come in different colors: 280100 is white, WP8558763 is pacific blue, WP8558764 is champagne, WP3980639 is sedona. The motor is part number 279787. Hope this helps! Read More...
Trent April 05, 2011 for Model Number 110.84832201 You were right! It was a connection. Thanks! Everyone on the 'net kept saying to "buy a control board". Glad I didn't fall for it. Here is one more: I notice some light between the drum and the rim that holds it in place. Does the felt that goes around the drum have to be periodically replaced to solve this? Seems like a lot of lint will escape through the gap.
1 Answer Hello Trent. Glad we could help! If the seal is worn, then it would be a good idea to replace it. Hope this helps! Read More...
Trent April 05, 2011 for Model Number 110.84832201 OK, I can see that the switch is not being depressed. What should I check next?
1 Answer Hello Trent. Check and make sure all the switches are plugged in correctly, and that one of the wires didn't come off while doing the repair. If all of this is good, you can test and see where you are loosing power at. You will need to use your wiring diagram to do this. Hope this helps. Read More...
Trent April 05, 2011 for Model Number 110.84832201 I asked a previous question about my dryer not starting after replacing belt, pulley, and rollers; you mentioned it could be the pulley switch. I checked with Ohm meter and is OK. Could the new belt be a bit too long, so that it is not raising the pulley off the switch?
1 Answer Hello Trent. The new belt should be good and tight, if it is on the pulleys correct. If it feels loose and is not closing the contact of the switch, the dryer will not run. Check and make sure you have it on the pulleys correct. Hope this helps. Read More...
