For Whirlpool Control Board (Part Number: OEM18039438)

Mr. T for Model Number MED9700SQ0

Just replace the machine control board because of big black burn mark on back of PCB. I just ran self diagnose and the machine gives the 88 code on timer panel. So all seems to fine. But still wont start. Measured resistance across all devices for heater, motor and belt switch all seem to be in spec. Used the service manual and measurement the resistance across P1-3 to P1-4 and measure 1.3 ohm, which says that the machine control board is bad. Is this possible with this board to be bad right of the bat. Or am I missing a step.

Mr T. It is possible that the control board came in faulty. The part number for the board is WP8546219 but also want to check to make sure that the thermal fuse is good.

Larry for Model Number GEW9250PL0

Whirlpool Duet Dryer Model GEW9250PL0. Went to use the dryer yesterday and am unable to get it to work at all. No lights on the panel when trying to operate the dryer. Checked the main breaker is on and verified proper voltage at the outlet where it's plugged in. Unable to get into diagnostic mode at all, since no response at control panel whatsoever. Is the problem with the main control board (part 8546219) or with the interface card control panel (part 8558753, 8558755, or 8558756)? Thanks

Larry, Check power at the terminal block to make sure that there is proper power to rule out the power cord and check the wiring at the terminal block. If this checks ok then this will most likely be a main control board issue.

Dominique for Model Number Kenmore Elite 4 Quietpack

Hi, my dryer started responding erratically recently. Some button stopped responding, other were ok. e.g. I am able to start a "jeans" cycle, but the button "normal" do not engage the cycle at all, during a cycle the "end of cycle signal" change setting by itself, "check lint screen" was preventing a cycle to start even though I cleaned up the whole thing twice, etc. I reset the dryer, everything worked fine 1 time, than started again the erratic behavior. I went through the technical sheet, check all the resistance of all the button, they are all good. Tried the diagnosis mode, work one time with no error code, all buttons responded upon pressure, than the second time I couldn't even enter the diagnosis mode because de "less time" button wasn't responding. It point out to a control board issue and I am looking to replace it, but I still have a doubt that it could be the console electronics and housing that is at fault. I want to make sure I don't order the wrong part (even though your return policy seems to be good). Would you be going for the control board WP8546219, or the electronic housing? Thank you.

Dan for Model Number GEW9200LW1

Dryer does not start ,all the lights are on.When I press start all I hear it is a click.I opened the control board and measure p1-3 p1-4 whith the wire plug on the board got 2 ohms.took the plug out of the board and measure directly to the board pins got nothing.i was playing around with the wires and ribbons and it started working.I ran it for 20 minutes with no problems.any ideas? maybe the board is bad?I had it in the service mode no error codes found

Mike, With everything checking ok and the thermal fuse on the blower housing being good, make sure that the door switch is not broken. This issue would be a timer issue if all else checks ok.

Hello Qikkev, This could have just been a weak solder joint on the board. I would replace the control board WP8546219 and put the unit back into operation if no shorts are detected with a resistance meter, (ohm meter), at the power cord.

Kenmore Elite, No, the control board is probably not the problem. Your first check should be the thermal fuse located down inside the machine, attached to the blower housing. If the thermal fuse opens, due to an overheat situation, the motor will not start or run. it is not a resettable fuse, it will need to be replaced.

Christian, First check and make sure there is proper power supplied to the dryer. If you replaced the WP8546219 Machine control board, then you need to check or replace the WP8558753 user interface control board. If you remove the lower front access panel, you should find the tech data sheet attached to the back of the panel and can conduct the diagnostics and test modes for the controls.

Jaime, The control panel not responding would be caused by a faulty user interface board.
