Jmann, There is really no way to test the display other than checking to make sure that the ribbon connector from the user interface is seated fully with the main control board.

Alex for Model Number GEW9250PW1

Hello. On my dryer - Whirlpool Duet, the control lock light lits up on its own and I cannot cancel it by holding the proper button for 3 seconds. I had turned the power off for a day and somehow I was able to turn it off and used the dryer for a day or two, but at some point it went on on its own and I cannot turn it off any more. I tried turning the power of etc but nothing worked. What part do I need to replace? - the control board or the control panel with the buttons? Thanks

1 Answer

Alex, The user interface would be the most likely cause for the unit to turn the lock on by itself and would be part number WP8558753.

Hello Brant, You should check the thermal fuse WP3392519. The door switch WPW10318609, belt switch 279782, and centrifugal switch in the motor assembly 279787 should also be checked. I'm sorry but this part WPW10318609 has been discontinued by the manufacturer and no satisfactory substitutions have been provided.

Brant, If the thermostats and thermal fuses check ok then yes the main control board would be the most likely cause for the unit to not work.

Hello Alex. You will need to test the thermal fuse and the power supply to the unit. If both are good then it sounds like the main board is bad on the unit.

Hello Kim. Replace the sensors. If the issue continues, then replace the control board on the unit.

Jose, This issue would be more indicative of a relay that simply failed and the control board would need to be replaced.
