Keith September 08, 2015 for Model Number GEW9200LW1 Is it possible to purchase and replace the motor control relay on the circuit board? Where can I buy this part? I can't see spending $261 for a new control panel on a 15 year old dryer. I'm pretty sure the relay is the problem because the soldier on the circuit board is scorched.
1 Answer Hello Keith, I'm sorry but the relay is only made available by the manufacturer as a part of the control board WP8546219. Read More...
Pablo September 02, 2015 for Model Number 11084834201 Our Kenmore He3 dryer stopped heating a week ago. It runs fine, but won't heat. Is there a way to test the circuit board 8546219 to verify it is faulty before ordering a new part? If I run the dryer with my multi-meter across the spade terminal connections for the heater block (on edge of board) should I expect a 240V value if the board is functioning correctly?
1 Answer Hello Pablo. Yes, test for power from the relay to the heater. If it is not there, the board is bad. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Chris August 18, 2015 for Model Number GEW9250PWO Hello, Have a couple issues.. First the machine would run, only on normal and by plugging it in only. No response from the on/off button. The cycle selector had no response nor the Cancel button.. Open the door and it would shut off. Close door and would turn on by itself. Did the supply connections test #1 and checked out good. Now the control Locked button is lit up and locked in that mode. Thermal fuse is good along with the door switch.. Thanks
1 Answer Hello Chris. It sounds like the control panel WP8558756 is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. Read More...
D July 06, 2015 for Model Number GEW9250PW1 My electric went out so I hook up my generator (it has 220 and 110) and forgot to trip all circuit breakers in the house. I did trip the main so there was no back feed. My dryer was not in use but the Air Conditioner was. I smoked the treadmill, clothes dryer, a modem and a few APC surge protectors. The only thing that works on the dryer is the inside light when I open the door. The front panel does not light up. I can't get in diagnostic mode with the plus or minus buttons. I don't see any burn marks on the circuit boards nor any melted wires in the dryer. The diagnostic says to replace the board P/N 8546216. Doses this board control everything but the inside light. If I replace this board will everything work or will something else be bad? thanks
1 Answer Hello D. WP8546219 is the main board and does control the front panel. However, on a power surge, you can not tell if that is the only part damaged. You will need to start with that board on the unit. Read More...
Mark July 06, 2015 for Model Number Whirlpool #GEW9250PW1 Dryer quit working, Have good power, checked every thing from thermal fuse to the control board and all checks good. put it back together and it worked for two loads and quit, wiggled the ribbon wires from the user panel and it started working again and then quit. it will work when the wires are wiggled, Bad control board? No corrosion can be seen in the plugs or wires and plugs seem to lock in good.
1 Answer Hello Mark. If all connections are good, then it sounds like the harness is bad and will need to be replaced. Read More...
Victor July 06, 2015 for Model Number GGW9250PW3 Hello I had a power outage and after that I had no response on any buttons there is lights on in the drum would you think the control panel is bad?
1 Answer Hello Victor. You need to check and see if there is power to the main board WP8546219. If so, and it does not send power to the interface, you will need to order and replace the main board on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Jennifer May 27, 2015 for Model Number WED9150WW1 I have a control lock on my machine. It seems to be stuck. I hold it for 3 sec and it will not turn off. Now, if the dryer is off, and I hold the control lock for 3 sec it will lock and unlock...it just will not do the same while the dryer is on. So when I press the start button it just beeps at me. The thermal fuse has been replaced. I had the door switch checked and that was fine. I ordered a main control panel and its doing the same thing. I was thinking of ordering the main control board that lies on top of the tumbler area and see if that works. Do you think that the main control board could be causing the issue? I want to try everything before buying a new one.
1 Answer Jennifer, With the control lock coming on by itself you would want to replace the main control board since the user interface has already been replaced. This would be the most likely cause of the issue. Read More...
David April 28, 2015 for Model Number GEW9250PW1 Hi, my dryer works intermittently. When it runs everything works well, temp is fine, cycles work, etc. When it stops working there is a dim light on the "timed dry" and "causal" lights around the dial, but otherwise the control panel does not work. It will sometimes reset if I unplug the machine or if I do the more dry/less by code check. I replaced the door switch and the thermal fuse since I already had the front off the machine. I was thinking this sounded like a bad board, but wanted some help troubleshooting it. Thanks
1 Answer David, You're pretty much on target, the problem is most likely in the user interface control board WP8558753 in order to test the function of the buttons and rotary cycle selector, you will need to retrieve the tech data sheet from inside the cabinet and refer to page six(6) of the tech information. Tony April 13, 2015 for Model Number WDG8300SW1 I go to start the dryer, and clicking sound comes from the Control Board, and then I get a F01 error code. The dryer does not even attempt to turn over. Do I need to replace the Control Board?
1 Answer Tony, The F01 error code does represent a primary control board failure. The part that you would need is the main control board part number WPW10111606. This control board is located on the inside left wall of the cabinet. Read More...
Matt April 09, 2015 for Model Number WED9200SQ0 When we push the start button the control board clicks, the time starts counting down but nothing turns on (Heater or Drum). All appropriate lights are on, it just does not run. The door switch appears to be working correctly.
1 Answer Matt, You will need to test the thermal fuse on the blower housing to make sure that the thermal fuse has continuity. If the fuse does not have continuity then the fuse is faulty and would need to be replaced. The most common cause for the thermal fuse to fail would be that the venting is clogged or restricted. You may have noticed longer drying times prior to failure. Read More...
