Chris for Model Number GEW9250PWO

Hello, Have a couple issues.. First the machine would run, only on normal and by plugging it in only. No response from the on/off button. The cycle selector had no response nor the Cancel button.. Open the door and it would shut off. Close door and would turn on by itself. Did the supply connections test #1 and checked out good. Now the control Locked button is lit up and locked in that mode. Thermal fuse is good along with the door switch.. Thanks

My electric went out so I hook up my generator (it has 220 and 110) and forgot to trip all circuit breakers in the house. I did trip the main so there was no back feed. My dryer was not in use but the Air Conditioner was. I smoked the treadmill, clothes dryer, a modem and a few APC surge protectors. The only thing that works on the dryer is the inside light when I open the door. The front panel does not light up. I can't get in diagnostic mode with the plus or minus buttons. I don't see any burn marks on the circuit boards nor any melted wires in the dryer. The diagnostic says to replace the board P/N 8546216. Doses this board control everything but the inside light. If I replace this board will everything work or will something else be bad? thanks

Hello D. WP8546219 is the main board and does control the front panel. However, on a power surge, you can not tell if that is the only part damaged. You will need to start with that board on the unit.

Hello Mark. If all connections are good, then it sounds like the harness is bad and will need to be replaced.

I have a control lock on my machine. It seems to be stuck. I hold it for 3 sec and it will not turn off. Now, if the dryer is off, and I hold the control lock for 3 sec it will lock and unlock...it just will not do the same while the dryer is on. So when I press the start button it just beeps at me. The thermal fuse has been replaced. I had the door switch checked and that was fine. I ordered a main control panel and its doing the same thing. I was thinking of ordering the main control board that lies on top of the tumbler area and see if that works. Do you think that the main control board could be causing the issue? I want to try everything before buying a new one.

Jennifer, With the control lock coming on by itself you would want to replace the main control board since the user interface has already been replaced. This would be the most likely cause of the issue.

Hi, my dryer works intermittently. When it runs everything works well, temp is fine, cycles work, etc. When it stops working there is a dim light on the "timed dry" and "causal" lights around the dial, but otherwise the control panel does not work. It will sometimes reset if I unplug the machine or if I do the more dry/less by code check. I replaced the door switch and the thermal fuse since I already had the front off the machine. I was thinking this sounded like a bad board, but wanted some help troubleshooting it. Thanks

David, You're pretty much on target, the problem is most likely in the user interface control board WP8558753 in order to test the function of the buttons and rotary cycle selector, you will need to retrieve the tech data sheet from inside the cabinet and refer to page six(6) of the tech information.

Tony, The F01 error code does represent a primary control board failure. The part that you would need is the main control board part number WPW10111606. This control board is located on the inside left wall of the cabinet.

Matt, You will need to test the thermal fuse on the blower housing to make sure that the thermal fuse has continuity. If the fuse does not have continuity then the fuse is faulty and would need to be replaced. The most common cause for the thermal fuse to fail would be that the venting is clogged or restricted. You may have noticed longer drying times prior to failure.
