My unit has pwr. To it, but the control panel w/n work properly causing the unit not to work. When i unplug & replug the 120 vac cord to reset it, the normal & rinse cycle led's come on & the no. 2 is displayed in the window. I do here the drain pump working for a short while then it stops. After that happens the normal & rinse cycle led's start flashing & the time remaining window has 2 green steady "on" dashes. No other buttons on the control panel light-up when pressed. I do notice the anti-bacterial & pots/pans buttons do not have that spring back feel to them like the other buttons do on the c/p.

Ron, With the normal and rinse cycle keys flashing, this would be an indication of a stuck keypad in which the control panel would need to be replaced. The part number for the control panel for this unit is WP8534839.

My Kitcheaid KUDS01IJBS0 dishwasher stopped working last week. I can press all the buttons and get the corresponding LED indicator to illuminate, but when I try to start a cycle it will not start. The seven segment displays both show "--" and when I press start nothing happens. I opened up the control panel and "ohmed" out the buttons and they all work, assuming the response I get on the meter is as expected. The value I read is around 30 ohms and it does jump around a bit. I made the measurements with power off and the ribbon cable connector disconnected from the control board. I also tried to run the diagnostics and that seemed to work. I am assuming a control board issue, but I wanted to make sure it is not something simple like a sensor stopped working. The issue did start when I noticed the add sani rinse indicator was stuck on. Not sure if that is related to the issue. It would help if I knew what all the connectors on the control board go to. Anyways any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hello Patrick, Since you have tested the touch panel, I would assume that, as long as something is not holding the flood float up, the control WP8564543 is the component with the issue. As a manufacturers' note: Per factory, this sub should only have 3 terminals. The P4(Y) terminal which was on the original control has been removed and not used on this control.

RE: Kitchenaid (Whirlpool) Dishwasher #: KUDS01DJSB0 Greetings! We are beginning to experience issues with this dishwasher. We always run in the "Normal" mode with "Energy Saver Dry". Recently though we are not able to select "Normal". The "Quick Rinse" light is on (which is unusual), so we push the "Normal" button but nothing happens. Nor are we able to select the "Energy Saver Dry". I have been able to make it work by performing the Reboot sequence, then hitting the "Cancel" button and the "Normal" light is then lite so we run the load as usual. But if we let the system go to sleep, we have the same issue again with the "Quick Rinse". Any guidance would be appreciated! Mac

Mac, The control board WP8564543 isn't the issue. The problem is in the keypads on the control panel 8531014. Replace the control panel and reset the control board and you should be alright.

I purchased the fuse kit from APP and after installing it, the dishwasher still would not work. There is no sign of power at all to the control panel. I tested the outlet where the dishwasher is plugged in and that works fine. Also, when installing the fuse kit, it would not snap onto the frame no matter how many times I tried to get it to do so :( From reading some of the posts, others have said this sort of problem is typically the fuse kit, and if not that, possibly the control panel. Before I purchase the control panel, is there anything else I should be checking first? I'm trying to avoid having to have my dad buy a new dishwasher, but don't want to buy another part that may not solve the problem. Your help is greatly appreciated!

I can change type of wash selection I want if I run my finger across the board. Example; from heavy to normal to quick rinse. No matter what setting I get to the light to come on I cannot get the dishwasher to start. It does run for the drain and reset buttons as it pumps out fine in its normal 2 minute cycle but it will not start up in any of the selected wash settings. Again, if I push the button selector for the wash cycle I want it will not change but it I slide my finger across the selector for wash cycles it will change but still will not start. Do you think my problem is the control panel?

1 Answer

Bob, Yes the issue is in the control panel WP8270229, not the control board. several of the keypad circuits have failed and are inputting information to the control board and causing it to "lock up" and not operate.
