Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Dishwasher Electronic Control Board (Part Number: OEM18056142)

Hello Ken, I would check for an issue with the harness WPW10413098 since there are two separate relays on the control for the heating circuit and a high limit thermostat. The possibility of all of the built in safety devices failing at the same time is remote so the harness is a much more likely cause.

Chesney, You will want to check the door switches to make sure that they have continuity with the door closed. If not then the door latch assembly will need to be replaced. If this checks ok then you will want to get the tech sheet from the bottom toe panel and do a keypad test to make sure that the keypad is functioning properly. If the keypad test ok then this will likely be a bad control board.

Robert for Model Number MDBH969AWS3

It will not run, when I push the start button on the control panel it blinks three times and will not start. All the other lights when you push light up but when you go to the run the dishwasher and push the start button all it does is blinks three times. Also checked the ribbon and it is in good shape. Powered down dishwasher and tried to pull the ribbon out of Main Control Board and plug back in and same problem. I have had four people tell me Main Control Board and five other's that it's the Control Panel. I don't have $300-350 to do both, can you HELP???? Have done the thermal fuse already

Robert, This issue does not sound like a control board or a control panel but you can eliminate the control panel by doing a keypad check. If you access the tech sheet located behind the toe panel, it has a keychart that you can use to test continuity of the switches in the keypad. The most likely cause for this issue will be a door switch issue. By design during a cycle, if the door is opened the keypad will flash for the start until it is pushed. If the door switch fails then it will cause the light to flash. The first thing to do is confirm that the door is latching. If the door is latching properly then you will want to test the door switches for continuity while checking the mechanical operation of the latch assembly. Make sure that the switches are not loose from the assembly. If the door latch and switches check ok then the control board would be the issue.

Mike, With the heater and the thermostat checking ok then the issue would either be in the wiring or will be in the control board. Check the wiring between the heater and control board to make sure that the wiring int he unit is good.

Hello Julio, You should check the connections in the power connection box behind the kickpanel. The problem described indicates a poor connection there or between the control board and control panel. This could also be either the control board or the control panel.

Hello Coley, You will need to verify voltage is to the fuse and passing through the fuse. If so, you should check the output of the board. We actually need the model number from the units' I.D. tag to diagnose this any further so we can pull the wiring diagram for the unit. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Danny, With the unit filling at the start of the cycle but not filling after that would be caused by a faulty control board but also check the float to make sure that it is not stuck in the up position and that the float switch is not bad.

Leon, The control panel/keypad assembly WPW10175238 would be the issue, especially if the mylar overlay for the buttons is peeling. The keypad circuits are beginning to degrade and become inoperative.

Tillmann for Model Number IUD9500WX4

I recently ran the dishwasher and after the cycle ran its course, the bottom of the dishwasher had standing water. I came to find out that a squirrel made it into the house a few days earlier and had chewed through the wires of the drainage pump and the optical water indicator. I replaced the wiring harness, however; now the drainage pump will not stop running when I start the wash cycle. I can unplug the drainage pump and run the normal cycle, but at the end of the cycle, I have to plug in the drainage pump again to get the water out of the bottom of the dishwasher. I was wondering if the control assembly maybe the problem? Thanks

Dan, You will want to check the door switch on the unit to make sure that the switches check ok. There should be continuity to them when the door is closed. If there is not then the door switches would need to be replaced.
