Shawn November 26, 2014 for Model Number ACO1520AB The microwave does not heat up, and the turntable doesn't spin when you turn it on (although the fan engages.) When I open the door, the turntable starts to spin. Any idea what could be going on? Thank you.
1 Answer Hello Shawn. You need to test the door switches on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...

Bill June 23, 2014 for Model Number JKP90DPWW Whirlpool Microwave/Built in Combination My 19 year old microwave, intermittently, will turn on when the door is closed. The light/carousel go on but the heating element will not. It can go a day or two and act normally, then all of the sudden it will turn on (not heating element). Other than that it works fine. If I close the door with food in it, the carosel/light will go on before I enter a cook time, etc. It allows me to enter the cook time and operates properly until it times out, then the carousel stays on until I open the door. I'm thinking it is one of the secondary switches? Thanks!! Bill
1 Answer Hello Bill. It sounds like either the latch or a door switch is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Stephen N February 09, 2014 for Model Number Whirlpool Microwasve MT4155SP I have just finished repairing a broken plastic lever (part nr. 8205451). I am now reinstalling the control panel and the latch board. My problem is this: I do not see where to position the upper Door Interlock Microswitch. The other two microswitches (the lower Door Interlock Microswitch and the Monitor Microswitch) have identifiable brackets. There doesn't seem to be a bracket for the upper one within the latch board (part nr. 8185271).
1 Answer Stephen, There is a sloted area at the top of the switch holder that the upper switch will go into. this is non the narrow part of the part next to where the latch on the door would slide into it. Read More...

John November 03, 2013 for Model Number ACM1580AS My turntable will occasionally continue to run after the preset cooking time has completed. It will stop once the door is open, but will continue upon closing the door. The only way to turn it off is at the breaker. Everything else works great. Please advise for a possible fix.

Frank J November 03, 2013 for Model Number Maytag MMV4205AAS Control pad only displays two dots : i checked all three door switches and they seem to make and break with ohm meter. Also jumped each switch one at a time no joy! Please advise as to check and or how. Thank you in advance for your help1
1 Answer Frank, With the display only having 2 dots, as long as the control board is getting power to it then the control board would be faulty and need to be replaced. The door switches would not cause the display to have 2 dots. Read More...
Scott August 16, 2012 for Model Number Whirlpool MT9160XBB-0 microwave built in Does not work unless you slightly depress the rectangular door opener. Would this be a swith or spring issue?
1 Answer Hello Scott. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like a switch 4392027 issue with the unit. You need to remove the switches and test the 1 at a time and see which switch is bad in the unit. If all switches test good, then look at the latch and spring assembly. Read More...
Terry July 10, 2012 for Model Number Maytag UMC5200AAB Microwave When door is opened the fan and turntable start. From reading here sound like door switches need replacing. Which ones do I need? Fairly good at simple fixes, is this a DIY repair? What are the steps? Any tips to be able to test a solution before ordering parts? IE faking a door close to make sure it's the switch?
1 Answer Hi Terry. The fan and the turntable are controlled by the primary switch part # WP56001036 that has shorted closed causing the issue you have. It has the blk. wire and the red wire connected to it. Obviously it will react the same as if you removed both wires and jumped them together. You remove the upper grill. This will allow access to a metal cover plate above the controls, remove it. Then slide the control panel up and hinge out towards you. You will need to remove the green ground wire and note all wire connections to the board. This allows you to open the door and remove the inner side latch mount screws and lift the latch assy up and out from the inside of the microwave cavity. Then you can replace the micro switch in question. Thank You. Read More...
