Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Dryer Drum Support Roller (Part Number: OEM12025611)

Hello Steve. Usually this issue is a faulty blower wheel 33001790. You need to check and see if the D shaft is stripped out of the wheel.

Hello Heather, You will need to use some rubbing alcohol on the roller shafts to remove residue from fabric softener sheets which gets rather sticky. This will cause the rollers to oppose rotation and damage the drum rollers. If the rollers are shredding, you will need to replace them again when the shafts are cleaned. Ensure the rollers will spin easily before re-assembly.

Lyn, You will want to check for a belt that may be too loose causing it to slip when trying to spin. With the tub spinning when a lighter load on it then this would be most likely. The other cause if the belt is ok would be a weak motor.

Olaf for Model Number MDE9800AYW

I have a similar problem to one posted already (Mike on Feb 2, 2015). The dryer would sequel when operated, so I replaced both drum support rollers, the belt tension pulley, and the belt. After I put it back together, a different thumping noise occurred. When I had the dryer apart, I noticed that both glides where gone and only the cork remained for the drum bearing. Would this cause the thumping noise? Why would it start only after I replaced all of the other items. Thanks

Olaf, Yes this can cause the thumping noise and you will want to make sure that the bearings are in place. It is possible that the slides could have fallen out but likely they were already worn and when removing the drum it allowed a different seating when reinstalled which caused the noise.

Mike, You will want to pull the drum and make sure that it is not out of round as this would be one cause for the thumping noise. Also check to make sure that you got the drum back all the way in the unit.

JohnO, Yes, you should apply a few drops of SBL TJ055975 lubricant or TJ93240 Turbine Oil. Apply a couple of drops to the shaft and a couple of drops in the bearing center, when you reinstall the rollers, wipe off the excess oil. You also want to remove the idler pulley WP6-3037050 clean the shaft and bearing and drop a couple of drops of oil on the shaft and bearing, as well.

Ken, With this model the screeching noise will most likely be caused by the rollers on the unit.

Coach, if the dryer didn't have this problem before you replaced the idler pulley you'll want to make sure that the belt was installed properly and has enough tension. Also check the tumbler bearings 306508. Hope this help you. Thanks.
