Jay February 26, 2014 for Model Number GE Monogram Ice Maker I have replaced the Control Board, Thermostat and Thermistor... WHAT ELSE could be causing 2-3 cycles then Dropping to Cleaning mode and staying there?
Jay February 20, 2014 I went through several attempts at fixing this Ice Maker 2 years ago... I let it sit - The last time I posed a problem I was told it was MOST LIKELY this Controller Board. I purchased the board and replaced it. The system seemed to start OK and went through 2 plates of Ice Cubes THEN went into Cleaning Mode... That was the issue initially... It would make "Some" Ice and then bounce into Cleaning mode and stay there

Jeff August 09, 2013 for Model Number gi1500phb3 We put the ice machine into clean mode and manual says it should run in clean cycle for 47 min and it kept running (all night) until I had to manually stop it this am. When I started it back up, it produced one slab and then would not kick back into ice production mode. Water kept coming on and off also and random cycle times. Do we have a bad control board? My fear is that it fried during the long clean cycle due to the heat.
1 Answer Hello Jeff. Based on the information you provided, the board is bad on the unit. Most likely it was bad and caused the unit to run all night in the clean cycle. You will need to replace the control board on the unit. Read More...
Jim July 22, 2013 for Model Number KUIS155HPW2 It seems to make ice yet doesn't release slab to the cutting grid. ??
1 Answer Hello Jim. Check the freezer plate and make sure the sensor is not hanging from the bottom. If so, you will need to replace the plate assembly in the unit. If not, then the board may be bad and need to be replaced on the unit. Read More...
Rich July 01, 2013 for Model Number KUIA18NNJS4 I have ice forming on the freezer plate, but when it comes time to harvest the ice the machine makes a distinct clicking sound that can be heard across the room. When I look in the ice maker the ice is partially off the freezer plate, but it will not finish sliding off. Could the control panel be faulty in that it is not letting the hot gas solenoid engage completely?
1 Answer Hello Rich, This is usually caused by mineral deposits sticking to the evaporator plate. Try cleaning the unit as per the owners' manual with a good quality, nickel safe, ice machine cleaner. Many of these did not have the grid ice guides (AP3179235) from the factory. These fit on each side of the ice grid and will prevent the ice from hanging up and causing a stoppage. The manufacturer does recommend them to be installed if not in place already. They are sold individually so two are necessary. Read More...
Pat June 20, 2013 for Model Number KUIS155HBL2 My unit cycles normally and the water gets cold but does not freeze on the plate. It cycles again before the water freezes and starts all over again. I haven't ohmed the thermisters yet, but if they check out, is there a way to check the board? Thanks
1 Answer Pat, You will want to check to make sure that the condenser fan motor is running and check to make sure that the compressor is running. If the condenser fan motor is not running it will cause the unit to be warmer than normal and not allow ice to make. Read More...
Charles May 09, 2013 for Model Number ZDI15CBBM Why are my ice cubes small and not frozen hard? The ice maker stopped making ice. Ran two cleaning cycles, one with vinegar and water and the second with dishwasher detergent and water. After that water started circulating through the system and back into the tank. It then started making ice cubes that were small and not frozen hard. I ordered the correct cleaner and will repeat the cleaning cycle. What else could cause this problem? Can you verify the sequence of events that take place to make ice? l. The water valve comes on and fills the tank. 2. The pump comes on and fills the freezing tray. 3. The compressor comes on and freezes the water. 4. The heating coils come on and make the ice cubes which then fall into the ben. I have cleaned the coils at the bottom of the unit. I am concerned about the fan. Does it run all the time or just when the compressor is running? Does it need to be cleaned? The ice maker is about five years old and in a clean environment. I am helping my sister with this problem. I didn't know anything about ice makers when I started. She couldn't find he owners manual. The unit has never been cleaned with Nickel Safe Ice Maker Cleaner. Thank you so very much for your reply. Charles.
2 Answers Charles, You will want to check to make sure that the condenser fan is operating when the compressor is operating. If not then you will want to check to make sure that the fan is getting power. If it is then the fan would need to be replaced. Check the cutter grid to make sure that the grid is not broken. Allow the unit to run 24 hours to see if the ice improves. If not check these things. Read More...

Tim K. March 08, 2013 for Model Number GI1500XHT2 Whirlpool gold undercounter icemaker .Wont come on but has power at switch when you turn on but no noise nothing.Got a 220 power mess up to the plug that it was pluged into.Insted of 110.Think it damaged control board ?
1 Answer Tim, The control board would be the first thing that you would want to check. Make sure that there is 120 vac coming to the control board. If there is then the control board is defective and would need to be replaced. You may have other components that also failed but will have to work your way through them once new control is in place.
