Jake December 16, 2018 for Model Number MER5755QAW Hi there, a week before Christmas, my oven won't heat more than 240. What do you think is the problem? Thanks.
1 Answer Hello Jake, you'll want to test for voltage at the bake and broil element also make sure they both are coming on. If not, you'll want to replace the defective element as long as voltage is present. Thanks! Read More...
Sandy December 31, 2017 for Model Number MER8772WS0 When selecting Bake on our Matag MER8772WS0 electric oven it will heat and get to temp. pretty quick and then post a fault detected, press start to try again. I noticed the broil element is on and glowing red all the time. We have tried unplugging for 3 minutes, then plug in and set clock and still happens. I removed the bottom oven cover that sits over the bake element and then set the oven to bake, it start and the bake element never glows, but the broil element glows the entire time. The user manual says "The bake and broil elements cycle on and off in intervals. The bake element will glow red when cycling on; the broil element will not. This feature is automatically activated when the oven is in use." I am thinking most likely the issue is the bake element, once it cools I will remove and ohm out with a meter. If it does not show open, could it be the Oven Temp sensor, or would you suspect the control board
1 Answer Sandy, If the element checks ok then this will most likely be an issue with the control board of the unit. Read More...
Joseph January 23, 2017 for Model Number mer55550Qaw Lower element in oven, Bake, does struggle to get to temp, takes forever, I am thinking the bake element is corrupt, So what do you think
1 Answer Hello Joseph. If the element does not turn red, and it has 240vac coming to it, you will need to replace the element. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Jack W July 18, 2015 for Model Number WERP4120PS3 While trying to change the element we removed the clips and took the front door off. We can't seem to get it back on.
1 Answer Jack, You will want to make sure that the arms of the hinge are locked in place at a 45 degree angle. You will then slide each side of the door into the receivers and the hinges should slide into a groove. Once into the groove you will rotate the hook on the hinge down and the door should be in place. Read More...
Bill November 29, 2014 for Model Number MERH865RAB1 Can I take the cover off the bottom element or do I have to do it from the back ? My oven won't heat to desired temperatures. Is this most likely the problem ?
1 Answer Bill, To access the bottom element you will need to pull the unit out from installation and remove the rear cover. This will allow access to the bake element. The things that you will want to look at would be the element, the thermal overload and possibly a bad control board. Read More...
Kirk August 25, 2014 for Model Number MER5875RAS Top Broiler element started burning so we turned off the broiler and it stopped. I take it I have to replace this element. Is it the same part number for the lower bake element as it is for the upper broiler element? Or are they different part numbers?
1 Answer Hello Kirk. For the model number you provided, WP74008692 is the broil element. Read More...
Adam March 22, 2014 for Model Number PLEB30S9DCA There was a power surge a few days ago and I lost a few items and one was the oven. I do have power going in at the 220 line. Is there a power unit on the oven that might have failed or did the control unit get hurt? Thank you
1 Answer Hello Adam, You should check for 120Vac testing with a voltmeter from terminal P5-5 to terminal P5-8. If this isn't present, the safety thermostat 318004900 could be open. This safety thermostat has a reset button on it that has to be pressed and wiggled a bit to reset. The power has to be off to do this since 120Vac rides on one side even if it is open. If it is closed, 120Vac is on both sides. If the voltage is there, the electronic oven control 316418720 has failed. Read More...
Ray J February 16, 2014 for Model Number AER5515QAW Oven bake element went out during the auto clean cycle, now the broiler will not work. What do I need to do to correct this?
1 Answer Hello Ray. Make sure the thermal limiter 74008715 is good. If it is good, you will need to test the broil element and make sure it is good.
