This bake element is the lower heating coil that provides the oven's primary heat during Bake. Replacing a worn or burned-out element restores fast preheats and consistent cooking results in electric ranges/ovens.

  • Provides bottom heat for the Bake cycle to preheat and maintain set temperature
  • Common symptoms: no heat on Bake, very long preheat, uneven/undercooked results, or visible blisters, splits, or burn marks on the element
  • If Broil still heats but Bake does not, the bake element is a likely failure point
Includes: 1 bake element Installation notes:
  • Disconnect power by unplugging the appliance or switching off the circuit breaker
  • Remove oven racks; take out the element's mounting screws, then gently pull the element forward and disconnect the two wire terminals
  • Support the wires to prevent them from slipping back into the rear cavity; position the new element and secure with the mounting screws
  • Restore power and test a Bake cycle

Hello Marcia, the hidden bake element is accessed through the left side of the range. Remove the left side panel and the sheet metal insulation retainer panel, at the bottom of the liner, is a long rectangular slot with a cover, once removed you can slide the bake element out.

Hello Dan, If the model number is actually GERC4110PQ0, you will need to raise the main top and remove the screws that are through the left side panel, (as you face the unit). You will then need to remove the screws down the rear edge that retain the side panel. It will then pivot out and slide toward the front of the unit and will be free of the unit. You will now be able to remove the hidden bake element when the wiring has been removed.

Branka, When you pull the range out and remove the rear panel. Disconnect power to the unit when doing this. You will then see 2 terminals at the bottom of the back which is where the bake element is located, disconnect the wires and remove the panel over it to remove the bake element.

Megan, We were unable to find a video or service manual with the access procedure for your hidden bake element. Yes, you will need to remove power to the range and slide it out, you would need to remove the left side panel. Remove the three screws from the left side panel you are removing. Pull the back of the side panel out from the range approximately 45°. Open the drawer several inches. Open the warming drawer several inches. Push forward and unhook the three front tabs from the chassis slots and remove the side panel. There is also an insulation retainer that must be removed to access the two screws that mount the element. When replacing the element, two L-brackets mounted onto the front of the element must slide into tabs located in the element compartment. Reverse the procedure and check the oven for heat in the bake cycle.

Megan, If there is no panel on the bottom of the oven floor then access can only be in two other spots. Either in the back of the unit or on the right side behind the side panel. Most of the time you can follow wires to the bake element. The service manual for your unit does not specify where the access is. Hope that helped.

Oma, If you slide the range out and take off the rear panel then this should allow access to the hidden bake element at the bottom of the unit. There will be 2 wires going into it.

Tim, The 208 VAC isn't the best situation but the control can/should compensate for that. The hidden bake element is a different situation. The hidden bake element will take longer to preheat and reach a consistent bake temperature, this is more or less"normal" and the larger oven cavity doesn't help a lot either. At this point, the oven is working as best it can under the circumstances. Thanks,

This is more of a answer to make it easier on anyone else brave enough to take on this task. I have a Maytag and every YouTube video shows the access point to this element is from the inside of the oven .Well of course I have to get the oven that has to be completely taken apart. If facing the unit from the front the right side has to be taken off then the inner shell fold up insulation take the two wire tabs off unscrew screw between two wires then fold down 3" wall carefully but firmly pull out element. VERY POOR design if u ask me.

Chris, Apparently you have the "hidden" bake element version of the range. You forgot to include the model number. But, the hidden element allows for an extended period of operation since the element isn't subjected to the spill overs, and possible damage from the pots, pans, racks, etc. The longevity of the bake element is a "fair" trade-off for the extra effort needed to replace the element. Some manufacturers have begun to use a removable oven bottom panel so accessing the bake element will be a bit easier and simpler.

Hello RJ. Looks like the left body side will have to be removed to gain access to the hidden bake element. There will be screws down the back and a couple across the top of the body side. When they are removed, the body side should lift off of clips or tabs across the bottom. There doesn't seem to be any service pointers at all on this unit. I'm guessing that it will be the left body side just from judging the fact that the wiring hooks up to the left side of the unit from the parts diagram.

Vivian, You will want to pull the unit out and remove the back cover of the unit. There will be a cover at the bottom and will need to remove this cover and lift out the element.
