This line fuse protects the appliance's incoming power circuit by opening if an overload or short occurs. Replacing a blown fuse can help restore power once the underlying issue is corrected, preventing further damage to sensitive components.

  • Interrupts line voltage when excessive current or a short circuit is detected
  • Typical symptoms: unit completely dead, no display or interior lights, won't start or run
  • Fuse tests open/no continuity with a multimeter when blown
  • A blown fuse often points to another fault that must be addressed
What's included: One line fuse Install notes:
  • Disconnect power at the breaker/unplug before servicing; microwaves contain high-voltage parts that can retain a dangerous charge even when unplugged
  • Replace only with the same type and rating as the original fuse
  • Ensure the fuse seats firmly in its holders; do not bypass or jumper a fuse

Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Line Fuse (Part Number: OEM18027897)

1 Answer

Nick, There is only one fuse on the unit and if it fails then everything including the light would be off. Check your wiring to ensure that all connections are tight and that all wires have been reattached. If this is good then the control board will be the most likely cause for this.

Trying to help out mother. Said her unit powered down and no longer running. I am assuming that it is a fuse issue: WP4375321 and I will buy it. But then, I read through some other Answers and read the following scenario and answer: Unit will not power up. when unpluged and then plugged back in, it started again but then quit again. Checked wall socket and it is powered. Frank for Model Number Kitchenaid microwave oven kbms1454sss ANSWER Hello Frank the main control board is failing, it is part 8206314 unfortunately it is no longer available. The manufacturer has discontinued the part. Wondering why the answer here is a failing control board and not a fuse issue. Please let me know.

1 Answer

Hello Monroe, the previous answer was correct as if the fuse was open then the microwave would never power up, even for a brief instant. If you find the fuse open on yours then likely some problem has occurred in the microwave that caused the fuse to trip such as a faulty door interlock switch.

Microwave gives Door error when I press start. The door is closing firmly, the display shows the clock and all other bottoms on the control panel seem working fine. Oven is also working ok. Initially, the light bulb of Microwave stopped working. Later I noticed that the turntable was rotating and microwave seemed working but didn't warm up the food. I started checking the door switches from outside and on/off manually by putting screwdriver :( so I thought I messed up the switches. I disassembled the microwave and tested the three switches, they are working fine. I don't know what else to check now. I read somewhere that door error can also be due to faulty fuse. Please advise what else I should check. I will be grateful. Thanks

Yham, The fuse would not cause this issue but the door switches or the control board would certainly be the most likely causes for this issue.

Ion N for Model Number RMC275PVS01

I repaired my microwave/oven combo 3 years ago by just replacing the blown out 15A fuse WP4375321. 3 years later, it showing up the same DOOR error on the display. The same 15A fuse was blown out again so I replaced it again. However, this time, the microwave turned on for only about a second or 2 and died again (almost instantly). The 15A fuse if blown out again. I checked the door switches and they are still good. Could it be the high voltage capacitor? Also the V1 circular red capacitor on the Electronic Filter is open while the V2 red capacitor is short. Should I replace the shorted V2 capacitor? What is the part #?

1 Answer

Ion, If the filter is showing a shorted or open capacitor then the filter would need to be replaced. Normally this issue will be a door switch that is faulty and would want to double check the switches. The primary and secondary switches are normally closed and the monitor is normally open.

Bob for Model Number GSC308PJQ05

I replaced the trim pieces and glass going from white to black. I turned off the circuit breaker prior to any work. After putting everything back together, the microwave light is off and the "DOOR" message comes up on the control panel when turning the microwave on. The convection oven works fine with no issues. I did not disconnect any of the connections on the circuit board, I only unscrewed it from the top panel and rescrewed it. The only other thing i noticed is a 9 pin square white connection that is not connected that runs from the control panel to the back of the unit and appears to have never been connected. After reading numerous blogs, it appears to be in order of repair options: 1 - main fuse on top right 2 - inline fuse above microwave 3 - door switch(s). However, I have yet to read of any of these options working. HELP!

1 Answer

Bob, The most likely cause for this issue will be faulty door switches on the unit. You can test them for continuity to see if they have continuity. The monitor switch would have no continuity in with the button out.

Hello Lorrie. You will need to check the switch cams and the door hooks to make sure they are working properly. Also, check your wiring harness.
