Bruce November 07, 2012 for Model Number TXI22R3L How do I install fresh food door gasket? Do I have to remove and reinstall all the screws that are under the gasket? Thanks for your help.
1 Answer Hello Bruce. Yes, you will need to loosen the screws, but do not remove them. Then remove the old gasket from the unit. Soak the new gasket in the bath tub with hot water for about 15 to 20 minutes to help you install it. Install the new gasket starting with the corners and tighten the screws. Close the door and make sure there is a good seal all the way around the door frame. Read More...
Sonny September 14, 2012 for Model Number Amana ART2127AW Does the door gasket AP4013372 come with installation instructions? Is it difficult to do? Thanks.
1 Answer Hello Sonny! No, the door gasket WP12550111Q does not include instructions. Pull the old gasket off. The new gasket will press into the door liner. John Q Public July 10, 2011 for Model Number TN21V2W I ordered this gasket from Whirlpool, and was sent one with a. The part number and the length and width are good. The thickness is only 1/2". My olg gasket has a base of 1/2" and a sealing area that overlaps the screws and and expansion area connected for a total thickness of about 1".The Whirlpool customer service reps don't know what's wrong. Can you help ?
1 Answer John, Not really, You have orderred the correct part number for the refrigerator door gasket. Over the years of production, numerous parts are eliminated or substituted to other parts that are similar and are "functionally proper". As long as you're sure the gsket is installed and secured to the door assembly properly, the seal is proper and tight all the way around the door assembly, you'll be fine. Thanks and Good Luck. Walter June 12, 2011 for Model Number TR22S4W Fridge door seal located by the lower door hinge is folded over on itself by about an inch. It's like the seal was too long and the fold took up the slack. The corners are slightly pulled but not enough to gain an inch of overlap (requiring 2 inches of material). It't been this way for as long as I can recall, even prior to moving it into the garage 8 years ago. Recently the door has not sealed properly causing a warm box. After cleaning coils and making sure door is tight, temps dropped into normal range (I am able to get the freezer to zero degree). In a warm garage, the unit is no doubt running more than it should. Is this seal issue familiar to you? Is there something I can do to make the door seal improve? I have the unit leveled properly, leaning backwards slightly. I have a picture if this helps. Guessing it wont help much to talk about the current seal. It's obviously not right. How difficult is it to replace the seal? Do you have a video reference? Thanks. Walter.
1 Answer Hello Walter. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the door seal WP12550111Q is bad needs to be replaced. You will need to remove all the screws around the inner door panel to do this repair. When installing the new door seal start at the corners and work your way around. You may need to use a hair dryer to form the seal around the door frame. Be careful not to melt the door seal by getting it to hot. Hope this helps. Read More...
