The Icemaker Motor Module is an OEM part for Whirlpool refrigerators. This module is the heart of the icemaker, responsible for controlling the ice production cycle. It manages the timing, water fill, and ice tray ejection, ensuring that your refrigerator consistently produces and dispenses ice.

Symptoms of a bad Icemaker Motor Module include:

  • The icemaker failing to produce ice,
  • Ice cubes not ejecting into the bin,
  • The icemaker making unusual noises during operation.

Causes of motor module failure typically involve mechanical wear from continuous use, electrical failures such as short circuits, or water damage affecting the electronic components.

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Bob, unfortunately, the model number provided is not being recognized within our available data base. If the model number could be verified and provided in a new question, this will allow the most accurate information to be presented regarding the ice maker wire harness. A burned wire certainly can cause the type of failure being experienced.

Paul, This unit will cycle regardless if there is ice or not. If there is no ice in the icemaker then check to make sure that the icemaker part of the valve is working and make sure that the fill tube is not clogged.

Paul, the auger solenoid and armature WP2152713 would need to be inspected by moving the plastic square up and down. If it does not move freely, it would need to be replaced. If it does move freely, the next step would be identifying if there is a blockage in the bin where the ice would be pushed out as this could cause the diverter door from not being able to move properly. If these check good, the failure would likely be in the dispenser control WPW10397957.

Abdul, If the icemaker is making ice then this will not be a module issue. You will want to check to see if there is voltage to the dispenser motor and if there is power but it is not coming on then the issue will be a faulty motor.

John, the water on the floor and freezer would likely be from the defrost drain being clogged. In regards to the ice maker, it would be recommended that the black wire of the ice maker harness W10838084 is tested for 120VAC using the white wire as the neutral/ground test point at the freezer harness connection. If there is voltage, the next step would be to test the black wire for 120VAC where it plugs into the ice maker in the same manner. If there is not voltage at the ice maker, the failure is in the harness. If there was no voltage at the first test, but all of the lights turn on, there would likely be a wire issue in the voltage line going to the ice maker harness.

Ted Tarchala for Model Number GI7FVCXWY02

I am having a problem with my refrigerator ice maker. The water overflows the ice cube tray. The ice maker produces ice but every time it ejects ice then fills the tray it gets overfilled with water. I have replaced the ice maker (WPW10122559) and water inlet valve (WP12956105), but that hasn’t fixed the problem. I have tried to adjust the water controller (turning clockwise 1 turn) but that had no impact. I put a pressure gage on the water inlet and am 60-80 psi. Any thoughts what can be wrong? This is a 6 cube ice maker. Is there a special module specific to this refrigerator where the fill level can be adjusted lower? Whirlpool refrigerator model GI7FVCXWY02

1 Answer

Ted, There is no special module that would allow for a lower ice maker fill. There are 2 water valves on this unit and the valve that you did not replace could be faulty causing this issue to occur. There is one at the back of the unit and there is one in the ceiling of the refrigerator section.

Hello Mike, using a multimeter you would need to check for 120v going to the ice maker with the left door light switch held in, the 120v is supplied from the rear main control board thru the inline safety fuse to the toggle switch into the ice maker module at terminals N and L.
