Norris September 22, 2014 for Model Number GI5SVAXVL00 You helped me with removing the ice maker and module. Now I find that the refrigerator is getting too cold, freezing food. I noticed this BEFORE removing the ice maker. Any possible relation? Maybe I need to check something else. This icemaker is in the refer part, not the freezer. Can I check the module when it is out of the refrigerator? Thanks, Norris
1 Answer Norris, With the unit getting to cold in the refrigerator compartment, this issue would most likely be caused by either a bad sensor or the damper door be stuck open. The damper door is located behind the icemaker auger on the unit and would most likely be the cause for the issue. Read More...
Norris September 14, 2014 for Model Number GI5SVAXVL00 Hi, I believe that the module has failed in the icemaker. I cannot figure out how to get to the module. All videos and instructions I can find are not applicable. Can you help? I can't find any screws, etc which mount the icemaker. There appears to be a tab on the left on the compartment wall behind the icemaker, but I am not sure and don't want to break it. Thanks, Norris
1 Answer Norris, To remove the icemaker assembly. Remove the ice bin. Remove the icemaker wire harness cover which is below the icemaker and runs from front to back on the left wall by inserting a screwdriver into the slot. Push up on the screwdriver to push the locking lever behind the cover down the pull cover forward to release. Disconnect the icemaker wire harness. To prevent damage to the wiring exiting the cabinet back and against the outer ice box wall, release locking lever and slide icemaker/auger assembly out of ice box. Read More...
Steve Hudson August 29, 2014 for Model Number Whirlpool GS6SHAXMB00 We have a Whirlpool GS6SHAXMB00. It makes great ice. The problem is it dumps the ice cubes on the floor of the fridgerator. The ice holding tray is not full of ice cubes. Would you know what would cause this!
1 Answer Steve, There is a plastic piece that should be on the front of the icemaker called an ice stripper. If the ice stripper is not in place or has a wrong stripper then the icemaker will dump ice on the floor instead of in the bin. The ice stripper should be angled for the ice to slide down and out toward the bin. The part number for the stripper is W10297244. Read More...
1 Answer Hello Rose. Check the temp in the unit. It has to be 0 to 5° for proper icemaker operation. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
D.C. July 27, 2014 for Model Number GI5FVAXVQ01 I have A Whirlpool model GI5FVAXVQ01. The control panel light keeps going off at intermittent time lapses. I can unplug it at the top of the door, allow time for it to reset and it works again. Even though the ice maker makes ice OK I unplugged it to see if that was the problem. It appears the ice maker may be the culprit. Has anyone experienced this type of problem?
1 Answer Hello D.C., This sounds more like a power supply issue on the main board WPW10310240 than an icemaker issue. Read More...
Margie May 31, 2014 for Model Number ED5PHAXS002 I cannot find my model # on this site. When I used the cross reference tool, it said that mine was not compatible with that module. Can you help me find my part? I am assuming that is the problem. It just quit working with the arm up. Thank you in advance for your help. Margie
1 Answer Margie, I believe your model should read ED5PHAXSQ02. The module is part number 8201515. The replacement icemaker is part number 2198597. Thanks! Read More...
John April 24, 2014 Ice Maker not working. I tested the motor by jumping L,M and only got 75 Ohms ( I saw in your video it should read around 4400 Ohms). All other values were correct. Which part do I need to replace the motor? I saw a part number on the outside of the module but was unsure if it included the motor.
1 Answer Hello John, The only way to get the icemaker motor is to order the motor module 8201515. Any part numbers on the part is usually a vendor number and cannot be used to look up a part. The part number is looked up by the model number from the appliances' I.D. tag. Read More...
Shaun W. April 23, 2014 for Model Number 6025SFXHS03 My Whirlpool side by side refrigerator just stopped making ice. I heard a small noise coming from behind the removable cover on the ice maker motor module so I took the cover off & the rotating wheel on the module won't rotate & seems to be stuck, its trying to move but won't, this is what's making the noise I'm hearing. What do I need to do. Please help. Thank You!
1 Answer Hello Shaun, This will either be a bad mold heater or there is a stripped gear in the cycling mechanism. Either way, I would recommend to replace the icemaker to avoid a repeat failure. Read More...
John February 26, 2014 for Model Number 10656596500 My ice maker stop making ice. So far I change the filter, and water inlet valve and still no ice, I get a flow for water thru the water dispenser. Ps I fill the tray with water and it make ice and empt it. John
1 Answer Hello John. Make sure the freezer is between 0° and 5°. You need to check and see if there is power going to the water valve when the icemaker cycles. If so, replace the water valve on the unit. If not, or the icemaker does not cycle, you will need to replace the icemaker on the unit. Also, check and make sure the fill tube on the unit is not frozen and clogged. If so, replace the water valve and thaw out the fill tube. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Erik January 16, 2014 for Model Number GS6NHAXVK00 Ice maker ejector arm quit moving. I noticed a few days ago that the ice level was getting low in the container. I kept an eye on the ejector arm and it seems that it is not moving at all. The ice tray was full of ice, I removed unit and thawed out. Reinstalled unit and it filled with water within a couple of minutes. However once filled the arm never moved. Do I need to replace the module? Please advise.
1 Answer Hello Erik. It is best to replace the assembly 2198597 and mot just the module in this case. Read More...
