For Whirlpool Refrigerator Ice Maker Assembly (Part Number: OEM18091938)

Ashley, If the icemaker is dripping from the front then this would possibly be a damaged icemaker and would need to be replaced.

Russ, This sounds like an issue with the ice bail arm. When you installed the arm onto the new icemaker it may have stretched to where it is hanging up. Try to push it back together a little and put a light coat of grease around it where the back side of the arm goes into the fill cup hole and see if this does not correct the issue.

Sammy, There would be a adjustment screw under the cover but only want to adjust 1/4 of a turn.

Bill, There is no adjustment to producing ice at a higher rate. What determines the rate is the temperature of the freezer. You will want to make sure that the freezer temp is between 0 and 5 degrees.

Larry, You will want to pull the icemaker and check to make sure that the fill tube that feeds the icemaker is not frozen. If it is then clean out ice from it and replace the water valve. If it is not then pull the cover off the icemaker and insert a jumper wire (insulated wire with ends stripped about a 1/4" And insert it into pin T to H on the icemaker module. This will start the icemaker to cycle. You will need to tape off the light switch while doing this. When you hear the click come from the icemaker at about the 3 oclock position then pull the jumper wire out. If the unit cycles and puts water in then this will most likely be the icemaker thermostat that is faulty. If the icemaker does not do a complete cycle it would be a bad icemaker and if it cycles but no water comes in then will be a bad water valve. If the icemkaer does not cycle at all then would be a bad Icemaker.

Hello Rivers! How are you getting the water to stop from coming in the fridge? If you have to shut off the water source to stop it from over flowing, you have a defective water valve WPW10498976. Hope this helps!

Duane for Model Number JFC2209VEM8

I wanted to make sure before I order if I'm ordering the right ice maker for a Jenn Air JFC2209VEM8. The number on the OEM ice maker I removed is a W10377152. I assume the W10884390 replaces this and has some updates. I tore mine apart and the copper contacts connecting to the heating element was melted and pretty much exploded inside the housing. With the amount of current running through this connection it needs to be stronger. I'm also wondering if everything except the wire shutoff is included with the new ice maker such as the thermostat, etc.

Duane, The W10884390 / W10884390 Icemaker, would be the correct part to order for a JFC2290VEM8 refrigerator. " Replacement ice maker. The new icemaker does not include a new ice level arm, or wire harness, these components will need to be reused from original ice maker ". The part is in stock and available at this time. Thanks,

Hello Richard. Usually when they change the part number, they made an improvement to the old part. However, they do not list the difference between the 2 icemakers.

John for Model Number WRF535SMBM00

I have a one year old whirlpool refrigerator located in our lake home. It stopped working. Every time I leave to return to our regular home, I turn off the water at the main supply line, but leave the power on. Last week, when we were at the lake, I noticed the ice bin was empty and the ice maker would not make ice even though we were there for two days. My question is, did I ruin the solenoid when I shut off the water supply, not realizing the ice bin was empty and the ice machine was on? Also, is there a way the ice maker knows the water is off and thus does not attempt to make ice? Thanks

1 Answer

Hello john. It is very possible you damaged the water valve or the icemaker by letting it dry cycle. You will need to test to see if either is bad or if the fill tube is frozen over.
