Hello Debra, If the freezer is running between 0°F and 10°F you need to see if there is ice in the icemaker or if it is empty. If empty, make sure the fill tube is not frozen up and replace the water valve WPW10498976. If it has ice in it that has not harvested, replace the icemaker assembly W10884390.

Ron, If the water were on then it should fill the icemaker. You will want to jump the icemaker again and test the water valve for 120 vac getting to it. If there is proper voltage but not putting water in then the issue will be the water valve. If there is no voltage then it would be the icemaker.

Ice maker not working and from what I have read and seen on the your site the problem is most likely the cycling thermostat which it appears you have available at $25.09 but it also seems the entire assembly can be purchased from your site for just over $40. If I were to purchase the entire maker unit am I correct that the thermostat would be included? Is part AP5617584 correct for my model? I also read that it is necessary to use a jumper wire to trick the new maker into a harvest cycle? Is that the case and if so can you elaborate a bit on that step? Thank you.

1 Answer

Ben, Yes the icemaker kit W10884390 will work for your model. As for jumping the icemaker out, pull the cover off the icemaker and put a insulated jumper wire with the ends stripped about a 1/4" into the terminals listed t and H. Make sure that the light switch is taped off so that it will cycle.

Hello Bettie, You would either need the WP627792 or the WP67004028, depending on the ice bin in the unit. In some cases you may need W11342242. I would recommend the one that looks like the one on the original icemaker or you can remove the old one and install it into the new icemaker assembly. A screwdriver will slip it out of the motor module with moderate force.

Dave, The icemaker wire harness does not come with the icemaker. If the wire harness is good then you can reuse the original. If it is bad then you would need to order the harness part number WPW10458985.

Peter, On the back of the icemaker head there is a slot, the icemaker arm should be going into this slot. If it is but will not stop icemaker then the icemaker would be faulty and need replaced.

Have maytag fridge and the ice maker quit working. I replaced the ice maker and wiring harness and water valve. Worked for awhile about 2 to 3 months quit again. I changed out with new ice maker again it worked for 6 to 8 weeks and quit again. This time changed door switch and worked for about 3 weeks but now back to old problem no ice and ice maker not working again. Please help looking for answers this one has been real problem this has all been done in the last 6 to 7 months thanks in advanced Tommy

Tommy, You will want to check the freezer temperature to make sure that there is no issue with the unit not getting cold enough. The freezer temp should be sitting at about 0 degrees with a plus or minus 5 degrees. If not within this range when the icemaker stops it could cause the unit to not make ice.

Hello John. The only way is to let the fill tube unthaw. You can use a hair dryer to help with the process but do not melt the liner or the tube with it.
