Mark, You will want to check the emitter and receiver board that is located on the sidewalls of the ice compartment. There should be a light that is flashing when the bin is out. Once it is out push the flapper on the other wall and see if the light glows solid. If it is not then the emitter board is faulty and would need to be replaced.

Hello Greg, operationally the ice maker is working in a forced test mode. Run test 36 and check the ice fan is running, it is behind the ice maker, you will feel a breeze out the front of the ice maker area, run test 37 next, lastly, check freezer temp as the ice maker will not harvest unless it is at least 15 deg cold.

Stumped for Model Number mft2574eem00

My Maytag refrigerator ice maker quit making ice. Service Test 56, E2. Service Test 59, no motor movement either way. Replaced ice maker. Still not making ice. Test 59 now passes CW and CCW. Test 56 still showed E2. Removed power from fridge to erase code. Test 45 passes filling ice tray correctly. After waiting 20 minutes or so, Test 57 passes correctly harvesting ice. Test 15 shows bin not full. Everything seems to be fine and obviously will produce ice when forced, what next ??? Thanks.

Stumped, This issue would be caused by a faulty icemaker. The icemaker is not showing that it is reaching the home position and will need to replace the icemaker.

Jeff for Model Number 596.72383411

I couldn't find the tech sheet and can't find it in a Google search. Any chance you can point me to a copy of it or tell me how to run diagnostics? ______________________________________________ I have a Kenmore that is about 5 years old and the ice maker started acting up. It began with not making ice consistently, and water running down the inside of the fridge. I had a repair guy look at it and they couldn't find anything. After the visit it worked fine for about 4 months. Then it stopped working completely. I'm not sure how to test anything. I was going to get the replacement ice maker assembly and put it in and see if that would fix it? Any help on how to start trouble shooting would be appreciated. Jeff for Model Number Kenmore 596.72383411 ANSWER Hello Jeff, due to the electronic control used in this model, for an accurate diagnosis, you would need to run the test mode. Your model came with a Tech Sheet showing all testing and test values, it is either under the right side top door hinge cover or tucked under/behind the front lower grille. Using it run Test 15 should get an 02, then run Test 56 and check for any ice maker error codes, it will tell you where the problem is, also do not unplug the ref from power before running the test mode as doing so will erase this code. Troy for Model Number Whirlpool Frigerator Model # XRX988SIBMO1

Re: Ice Maker not making Ice (almost 5 years old). I ran diagnostics. Looking for guidance for codes I got running various tests Ias to the likely problem. Ran Test 56 for ice maker and got an "E2". Ran other tests as well. No problems for about 2-3 years. At that time, just unplugged frig for a day and worked again... maybe line was froze. No sure this time. Great frig and model, but know 5+ yrs is older for ice makers. Test 57: Ice Maker Harvest 0 = Heater / Motor Off 1 = Harvest Completed Test 58: Heater Activation / Thermistor 1 = Heater On 0 = Temp warmer than Harvest Temp Test 59: Ice Maker Motor 0 = Heater / Motor Off 1 = Completed Could it be the motor based on these outcomes? Troy

1 Answer

Troy, Based on the information, this would most likely be caused by a faulty motor for the icemaker which would need a new icemaker for this issue.

Hello Jm23, those codes refer to a faulty ice maker, W11577195, as far as the intermittent no water dispense, the water chiller tank is located near the ice maker in the fresh food ceiling if the control is trying to make ice with a faulty ice maker it could over cool that area and possibly freeze the tank or a nearby water tube.

Ron, You will want to go into the service diagnostics and get the ice maker to cycle when you cycle the icemaker test to see if there is 120 vac getting to the water valve. If there is then this will be a faulty water valve and if not then this will be a faulty ice maker.
