For Whirlpool Rotor Position Sensor Kit (Part Number: OEM12981945)

Ed P. for Model Number 11027062602

I have a Kenmore Oasis washer, and it was working fine until now. A few days ago it started with the F1 code. I called Sears and all they could tell me is to replace the control board. I did that and the F50 code came on. I went ahead and replaced the RPS (comes as a kit) and the same F50 code came on. I put the old control back on and it worked for 3 loads and F1 came on again. The basket turns freely by hand so I don't think anything is under it. Does the new control board have to be programed or should I replace the washer instead of spending anymore money on it?

Hello Ed, I don't mean to doubt you but I have to ask, did you replace the harness that came with the sensor? The reason I have to ask is that most of the failures I've seen have been attributed to poor electrical connections. You see, the manufacturer made some cheap little connectors on the end of the harnesses and the wires tend to come loose, even if they appear to be connected, they lose electrical connection. I would go through and check all of the connections before I did anything else. If you find no problems, remove the motor rotor and check the connector that attaches to the rps. While it's off, check the motor rotor for cracks in the magnets. The control boards on these do not have to be programmed so this is no issue. If I were a betting man, I'd lay odds on a poor electrical connection.

Lorenzo, No special tools are requred. We'll send you some "how to" help . If you're replacing the RPS sensor assembly kit, you don't need to remove the agitator or tub. Good Luck

Hello Sandra. Based on the information, it sounds like the suspension W10820048 is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit.

Hi Frank. What is the F-code you are getting? If the door latch is not locking, it will not allow operation. Latch part # is WPW10619844. Thank You.

Hi Dan. Double check all elect. connections for being tight. Unplug power. Can you freely spin the inner basket? There are 2-hub assy. that will work together to lift the inner basket and allow wash and spin cycles to work. Part # W10820039. They will get full of soap on the cams and jam not allowing operation. They are under the agitator and unbolt easily enough for replacement. If this still does not help fully, it could have led to the motor tach. - upgrade kit to be used. Part # W10183157. Thank You.

Hello Rob. That is not a misprint. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the sensor is bad and will need to be replaced. You need to replace all the parts in the kit W10183157 and not just the sensor. Hope this helps.

Hello Jerry! F then 50 flashes when the motor rotor position sensor (RPS) senses no rotation. Does basket turn freely? If not, make sure bottom shipping pack has been removed. Determine cause of friction. If the tub does turn freely you will need to perform the following test procedure and replace the defective parts, thanks! TEST #3 Motor Circuit This test checks the wiring to the motor and rotor position sensor; and the motor and rotor position sensor themselves. NOTE: Drain water from tub. 1. See Activation of Manual Diagnostic Test Mode, and check the motor and electrical connections by performing the Agitate and Spin tests under Manual: Motor. The following steps assumes that this stepfailed. 2. Unplug washer or disconnect power. 3. Check to see if basket will turn freely. If basket turns freely, go to step 4. If basket does not turn freely, determine what is causing the mechanical friction or lock up. 4. Remove the console to access the machine/ motor control assembly. See Accessing& Removing the Electronic Assemblies. 5. Visually check that the P5 and P10 connectors are inserted all the way into the machine/motor control. If visual checks pass, go to step 6. If visual checks fail, reconnect P5 and P10 and repeat step 1. 6. With an ohmmeter, check for 16 ohms resistance at the P5 connector between pins P5-1 and P5-2, and also between pins P5-1 and P5-3. Also measure the resistance at the P10 connector between pins P10-1 and P10-7 and verify that the resistance is within the range shown in the wiring diagram on page 7-1. If the resistance is correct, go to step 11. If the P5 connector resistance is much higher than 16 ohms, or the P10 connector resistance is out of range, go to step 7. 7. Tilt machine forward to access the bottom of the machine and the drive motor area. See Figure 1 on page 6-13. Remove the motor bolt, then the motor cover to access the motor connections. See Figure 2 on page 6-13. 8. Visually check the mounting bracket and electrical connections to the motor and rotor position sensor board. If visual check passes, go to step 9. If visual check fails, reconnect the electrical connections, reassemble stator and motor cover and repeat step 1. 9. With an ohmmeter, check for continuity between all pins on the P10 machine/motor control connector and the motor rotor position sensor (RPS) connector. See Figures 2 and 4, pages 6-13 and 6-16. If there is continuity, go to step 11. If there is no continuity, replace the lower machine harness. 10. With an ohmmeter, check for continuity between all pins on the P5 machine/motor control connector and the drive motor connector. If there is continuity, replace the drive motor. If there is no continuity, replace the lower machine harness. 11. The drive motor and lower harness are good. Replace the motor RPS board and perform the Diagnostics test in step 1 to verify repair. 12. If the Diagnostics motor test in step 1 failed, then the machine/motor control has failed: Unplug the washer or disconnect power. Replace the machine/motor control assembly. Perform the Motor Diagnostics in step 1 to verify repair.

Hank for Model Number wtw6600sw

I have 2 1/2 months left on the warranty. I still get F51 errors..after tech replaced RPS sensor, control board, & harness. I notice when I get the F51 it is at the very start when the motor is "supposed" to rotate the tub. I get around the problem by unplugging power, wait, plugin pwr to release unlock lid, and manually check rotate tub to verify it is NOT binding/dragging - and it is not. Replug the washer and "it works". QUESTION: Is it possible the "stator" (or motor whereever it is) has a 'bad spot' on the magnet or stator the prevents the motor from rotating ..and.. that 'bad spot' occasionally ends up at a position where the tub cannot rotate (causing the F51 code error + absolutely no movement in the tub at the beggining of the wash cycle) ???? Any feedback would be GREATELY APPRECIATED !! Thank you!

Hank, the other possibilities are : something very small could be stuck between the tubs, The washer spin basket is not raising properly, possibly a low water level or the tabs on the drive gear under the agitator is not dis engaging, and causing a drag on the motor causing the F51 code. You'll need to raise the top, remove the tub cover, agitator and spin basket to check. Thanks and Good Luck.
