Dorian August 22, 2014 for Model Number MMV6180WS1 I am looking for an LED or 130v option for a replacement bulb for under the mircowave/light that shines on the stove. I have already had to replace this bulbs 2x in less than a 4 month period. My home has power surges greater than 125v at times and needs a higher volts bulb or LED, could you please help? I've already purchased. Whirlpool 8206232A Light Bulb and it has blown in 43 days.
1 Answer Hello Dorian, The only part we can recommend is the one the manufacturer recommends 8206232A. This is the one the unit is designed to use. If the bulbs are burning out prematurely, I would recommend checking for a loose receptacle or a voltage issue to the home from the transformer, (this can be checked with a voltmeter at the receptacles in the home and corrected by the local utility board). John B. July 29, 2014 for Model Number WMH32517AW-0 The cooktop light bulb in my Whirlpool microwave burned out. When I removed it, only the glass part and two small wires came out. I cannot find in the compartment the metal part of the bulb. Please advise as to what to do. Has the top part of the bulb broken off? I have gone ahead and ordered bulb no. 8206232A, as this is the bulb listed for this model on your web site. Thank you
1 Answer Hello John, When you unplug the microwave, use a flashlight and needle nosed pliers to reach inside the light socket and grab the thin edge and turn. It should come out. If it bends in such a manner that causes it to be stuck to the pliers, use another pair of pliers to remove it since it is sharp and will cut you badly. If you cannot remove it in this manner, you may need to replace the light socket W10210871. Read More...
Norm July 12, 2014 for Model Number MMV1164WW1 The light from my microwave burned out. From reading the questions and answers on your webpage, I found out the bulb part number is 8206232A. When I unscrewed the screw to get to the bulb, I lost the screw. Is it a specialized screw, do you have a part number, or is it a standardized screw I could buy at a hardware store? Thank you
1 Answer Hello Norm, I'm sorry but, Whirlpool did not list any screws on this model. These screws, if I remember correctly, are very similar to the ones hold the cover that extends up one side, across the top and down the other side. You can borrow one of them and locate one for the cover later. I would check for a replacement screw at a place that repairs appliances. Read More...
