C.R. February 19, 2017 for Model Number MGR5875QDS Only one burner switch will activate the spark for all 5 burners. I'm not sure which part to purchase to fix the problem, the Spark Module, or Switch. Is there a way to check which part is bad, or could it be something else?
1 Answer Hello C.R., The manufacturer of all brands were required years ago to make ALL of the surface ignitors spark when any were activated in case the ignitors were wired incorrectly. In light of this information, there doesn't appear to be an issue with your unit at all since this is a preventative safety measure built into the unit. Read More...
Glen February 27, 2016 for Model Number JDR8895AAS Two things happened the other day. My wife cleaned the oven range and stove top and the gas company topped off the propane tank downstairs. When I returned the knobs onto the igniter posts I heard the range "clicking" like it was trying to ignite on its own. I made sure the knob was in the "off"position and it was. As I removed the knob, I could see small sparks coming from underneath the igniter post. I turned off the gas supply and power supply as this posted a major hazard. The next morning I turned the unit back on and there were no issues. My wife tried to turn a different burner on and the same thing happened almost starting a fire. Is this a bad igniter? Valve. please advise. Thank you,
1 Answer Glen, The part number that you will need is the ignition switches which is part number 12002792. Read More...
Jl June 22, 2014 for Model Number MGT8775XW03 Hi my burner igniters stopped producing a spark, would this be the spark module?
1 Answer Hello JL. If all your igniters are not working, then it is possible that the spark module part number 74009098 is defective. If it's just one burner that is not working, it can be the switch or the igniter. Hope this helps! Read More...
Larry December 14, 2013 for Model Number MGR6875ADS My Maytag Double oven stove burners will all spark at the same time for no reason, even when we are not even near the stove. Could this be a defective spark module. The module is expensive and I want to make sure this is the problem before I change it.
1 Answer Hello Larry. Check for moisture and make sure all the spark switches are good. If so, you will need to replace the module on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Lee B April 11, 2013 for Model Number AP4098822 I have a Kenmore Range Model # 66578003800. None of the five burners on this gas range. I was told that I may have a bad spark module. What does your experience tell you about this issue and how to resolve it?
1 Answer Lee, The most likely cause of all of the burners not working would be the spark module 74009098. Read More...
Rob January 21, 2013 for Model Number JDR8895 AAB/S/N Hello - Two of my five burners won't ignite when I try to start with their respective control knobs. However, these burners will spark when I start the other other burners with the control knob. Is this an issue with the spark module?
1 Answer Hello Rob, You will want to check continuity of the ignition switches. Turn off gas to unit. With valve turned in on position check across the leads of each switch for continuity. If there is no continuity then the switches are bad. Also check to make sure that the ignitors are not bent to where they will not allow sparking. If these check ok then also check the wiring from the switches to the spark module to make sure that there are no broken or damaged wires. Read More...
Stefan October 01, 2012 for Model Number Jdr8895aas Hello I was wondering I have a Jenn air and I think it's a jdr8895aas. I just replaced the oriface and its a 12k but I need the valve because it is stuck and I can't turn it on. Probably due to corrosion from the salty air . What size valve do I use the 16 or 9? Also my ingniter doesn't click or work how do I determine what part is bad.
1 Answer Hello Stefan! You will need the 9k burner control valve 12002269, this is also used as the 12k burner valve. Make sure that the area around the igniter is not dirty from food/debris. If it is clean, try replacing the ignitor- part number WP8523793. If the spark module ignites the other burners and this one just doesn't click, you can try putting a good igniter in it's place to verify it's just the igniter. If it doesn't work he could have a bad switch or module. Hope this helps. Thanks. Read More...
Brad July 23, 2012 for Model Number Maytag range Gemini MGR6875ADB/Q/S/W My middle ignitor does not "click". It will not "click or spark when any of the other burners are turned on. Also neither oven goes into "clean" mode when their buttons are pushed. I need help Charlie
1 Answer Brad, as for the middle burner not sparking, You will need to remove the burner cap and check the burner base and cap for debris and spillage and the condition of the spark igniter WP8523793 . If thats the only burner with an issue, if alls Ok you will need to remove all the caps and burner bases and raise the cooktop to check for a damaged wire to the igniter WP7527P023-60 from the spark module 74009098 on the back of the range. As for neither oven not going into the "clean" cycle, there should be an error code in the display when the cycle is programmed . what is the error code ? and you cannot program both ovens for clean at the same time. We'll send you some tech data information that should get you through diagnosing the issues and getting you back up and running. Read More...
Emory W June 18, 2012 for Model Number jgr8875qdb My free-standing range clicks and sparks but the burners won't lite, why?
1 Answer Emory, does the oven or broiler ignite and heat ? Apparently the igniters work, Are the burner bases, caps and burner area clean and dry, no spill over or detergent residue to detract the spark from the burner ? Can you light the burner with a match ? If the oven works, and you can light the burners with a match, then we have a weak spark module 74009098 or wiring issue. If the burners won't light with a match then we're looking for a gas flow issue, check for gas at the wall connection then check or repalce the regulator 12002604. Thanks Read More...
