I replaced the spin coupler, and I didn't tap the dogs on the shaft far enough so when I put it back together it was hard to turn . Before I checked that, I turned on the machine ,it filled with water and when it went to agitate it buzzed for a while then stopped . So I think I burned out the motor start switch . I corrected the dog on shaft problem and motor spins free and I get power to the motor but maybe I have to bypass or jump the water level switch. Can you help ?

Ralph, an easier test, put the timer dial in the final spin/drain of any cycle, if the motor runs and the tub spins, it's not likely an issue with the motor, but a damaged circuit in the timer. If the motor still hums in the spin cycle, then it's an issue in the motor switch. If you wish, you can remove the purple and tan wires from the pressure switch, jump them together and select the agitate cycle. this will complete the full water level circuit and the timer will think the tub is full and the motor should run and agitate.

James for Model Number KAWS850LQ1

Hi, I get a brief clicking noise when the washer either begins to agitate or spin. It is like - click, click, click, click - then it begins to agitate or spin normally. I checked the clutch and brake cam - still good, the motor coupler - still good, and the pump - still good. With the cabinet removed, I think that the noise is coming from the motor. Could it be the motor switch? I don't see any burn marks on the switch or the harness connector. I did check the motor terminals as according to this site - (http://www.applianceaid.com/direct-drive-washer-motor-help.php) - the measured resistance between the listed terminals falls within those specified,

Hello James. It could be a communication issue. If it is working, it may be wise to let it go until the part fails. Then you can determine if the board or motor is causing the issue. You can try cleaning the connections and see if that helps.

Hello Dave, You should get nothing at the motor until the unit has filled with water and satisfied the pressure switch. If you include an e-mail address we can send you some material on this design.

Hello Rich. You need to check the wiring and the lid switch on the unit. By unplugging the unit, you are resetting the unit. If it were the motor getting hot, the unit would not need to be unplugged. Check the wiring and lid switch in the unit.
