Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Replacement Icemaker (Part Number: OEM12405033)

1 Answer

Hello David, If the water valve has already been changed and the water was turned back on, the icemaker (AP4135008) contacts have probably failed. There will be one screw at the bottom of the icemaker and two at the top. The wiring harness will unplug and it will be loose in your hand. Be aware when installing the new one that the fill tube has to be positioned in to fill cup or the water will go in the freezer compartment.

Carolyn, You would not need to use the second fill cup that came with the icemaker. As far as the unit not filling with water, it can take a couple of hours for the icemaker to get cold enough to cycle and put water in for ice. If after a couple of house the unit still has not put water in then you will want to check to make sure that the fill tube is not frozen. If frozen then you will need to clear the ice and replace the water valve.

Hello RA. Open the freezer door and look under the bottom of the dispenser cavity. You will see an access panel. Remove the screw and access door and replace the motor W10822606 in the unit.

Hello Paul, This is going to be one of three things: Low water pressure will not close the water valve quickly enough and will cause the ice maker to over fill. A water inlet valve (AP4071513) that is failing will cause the issue. The last possibility is a set of contacts inside the ice maker (AP4135008) sticking. This will normally cause a flood in the kitchen so it is the least likely failure but still entirely possible.

Dick, You most likely have a faulty fill switch or mechanism in the control head. Your best bet would be to replace the ice maker WR30X10093.
