Mike B April 27, 2013 for Model Number kssc42qks00 The ice maker in my 11 year old Kitchen Aide kssc42qks00 refrigerator will occasionally overflow - so that water runs out the ice dispenser! This has been happening only about once a month, but is now more frequent. The sounds made by the valve when open too long are identical to when it is working correctly... just for too long. I was going to replace the ice make thinking the control unit is bad. Does this sound like the way to go? Thanks!
1 Answer Mike, You could check the module on the front of the icemaker to see if the pins in the big wheel are broken. If they are then you would want to replace the module W10190935. Other than that it would sound more like a bad water valve not fully closing when done calling for water. Sticking water valve. Read More...
Larry B April 26, 2013 for Model Number part #626662 After install icemaker is only making 4 trays of ice per day. Is there an adjustment?
1 Answer Larry, You will want to check the water fill on the unit as if it is not bringing in enough water it will cause the unit to have longer times between ice production. You will also want to check your freezer temperatures. If the freezer temp is not cold enough it will take longer to cycle. Read More...
Pr April 22, 2013 for Model Number msd2641kew maytag refrigerator My side by side refrigerator will not dispense water or make ice cubes. What could be the trouble?
1 Answer Hello Pr. You will need to check and see if the water filter is bad on the unit. If it is good, you will need to check and see if the water supply is good, and if the water valve needs to be replaced on the unit. Read More...
Steve April 19, 2013 for Model Number KTRS22ELWH01 I have a Kitchenaid KTRS22ELWH01 refrigerator with the ice maker in the freezer. My ice maker was giving hollow cubes and I kept finding ice on the back of the ice tray as if water was dripping. This has been going on for awhile and now I get nothing even though I hear the ice maker motor. Do I need to replace the water inlet valve or the ice maker itself or both ? Thanks.
1 Answer Steve, If the water dispenser is working, you'll need to replace the "dual" valve WP2188785, if neither the dispenser or the ice maker is working, replace the "single" inlet valve WPW10498990 , Also check and flush the water supply line to the inlet valve, and replace any in line water filter. Hollow cubes and sputterring from the water fill tube is also an indication of low water pressure. Read More...
Yankees April 19, 2013 for Model Number ktrs22elwh01 Ice was forming on back of tray as if water was leaking and most times I didn't get a solid ice cube. I was still getting cubes. Now I hear the icemaker motor but it's not making ice. The temperature is okay (everything really frozen). The bar is down but I feel nothing in the icemaker. Should I replace the icemaker or the water inlet valve and can i do it. Thanks
1 Answer Yankees, You will want to check the unit for a frozen fill tube. Pull the icemaker out and check to see if the fill tube is frozen. If so then you will need to clean out the fill tube and replace the water valve on the unit. Read More...

Cliff W April 03, 2013 for Model Number MSD2756gew Maytag I ordered a replacement Ice maker and all the instructions say to loosen two 1/4 inch bolts on top of the ice maker There is a bracket holding it in not bolts I cannot figure out how to remove the old ice maker. It is hard to see I have to hold a mirror in the freezer to see the mounting. Does Maytag have a different mounting on some of the ice makers. Model MSD2756gew Serial no. 23784192CE
1 Answer Cliff, There is a screw underneath the icemaker that you remove. Once removed you will pull the icemaker toward right freezer wall from the bottom. This will release the icemaker from the clips. Install in the same manner. Read More...
J Foster April 02, 2013 for Model Number Amana SXD20NPE Water from the ice maker is pouring into the freezer. I suspect that the motor may have failed, so the water is going on to the top of previously frozen but not ejected ice cubes. Is this a repair I can do myself? Is a replacement ice maker available? Freezer is 18-20 years old.
1 Answer Hello J. You will need to test and see if there is power going to the water valve on the unit. If there is no power, the valve has failed and will need to be replaced. If there is power, you will need to replace the icemaker. The replacement icemaker is part number D7824706Q. These are not hard to replace and you should be able to do it. Read More...
