Richa60 May 20, 2012 for Model Number My ice maker looks like your part# AP2984633 Ice maker produces hollow cubes, very slowly, and frequently does not fully eject cubes, resulting in a grinding noise. Manually prying stuck cube from fingers stops grinding noise. Also, back of freezer, above and behind ice maker gets coated with smooth ice (not crystals), with stalactites and everything. Water chute to ice maker looks clear. Tried various temperature settings. Device is about 12 years old. Any suggestions? Thank you!
1 Answer Hello Richa60. It sounds like the water valve is bad on the unit and will need to be replaced. Read More...
Kenneth May 18, 2012 for Model Number kssc42qms01 My icemaker is leaking and icycles are forming on the tray which has a film which is delaminating. My first thought is to replace the tray but that may not be the cause. The other option is to replace the complete icemaker. Is replacing the icemaker the simpler of the two tasks? To me it is a more positive choice. Please give me your opinion.
1 Answer Hello Kenneth. If the coating is comming off and the icemaker is leaking, you will need to replace the icemaker 4317943 in the unit. Read More...
Ed Waldro May 18, 2012 for Model Number 596.58697890 Serial #99110125533 Hi, Ordered a new ice maker and am now trying to install it. Took the old icemaker out. Put in new one, however the new icemaker part into which the hose is inserted has a hole for the water tube on it's side. My old ice maker little white connector thing has the hole for the hose on the back of that part. I took the new one apart and put my old little white part on it, put the whole thing back into the freezer again, everything looks great, but the water will not come into the hose to fill the tray into which the ice is made. WHAT could be MY PROBLEM, other than I'm not an appliance repair person?
1 Answer Hello Ed. Make sure the fill tube is not frozen and that the water is turned on. If so, and the fill tube is clear, you may have a bad water valve WP12544101 on the unit. Also, make sure the filter is good. Read More...

Jan May 08, 2012 for Model Number ED25PEXHW00 We just installed a new ice maker. Was quite simple. But nothing is happening. Does it need to be set or will it automatically set itself?
1 Answer Hello Jan. The icemaker 4317943 has to get cold and the arm needs to be down on the icemaker for the unit to cycle and make ice. Read More...
Jan May 08, 2012 for Model Number ED25PEXHW00 How do you get the plug in out of the back wall of the refrig? It seems to be locked. I do not want to force it and break something.

Reb May 02, 2012 How can I check the heater circuit in my Whirlpool side by side icemaker (icemaker is not on door), it fills up and makes ice, but will not cut cubes to allow them to eject?
1 Answer Reb, You'll need a multimeter, and it will need to be set on the lowest ohms resistance setting (R1) with the power off remove the white plastic front cover, insert one meter lead in the opening labelled " L" (the 6:30-7:00 o'clock position) and the other meter lead into the "H" opening (4:00 o'clock position). There should be a resistance reading of 72 ohms (+/- 10 %), Good Luck and Thanks Read More...
